I was gonna respond cynically after seeing this, but on retrospect I think this might be good for all consumers as this is likely to incentivize AMD to also extend their warranty
there’s no guarantee but there’s potential for AMD to follow suit
Edit:
Intel has completely lost it and is speedrunning their collapseFor intel, this seem to be a one off thing just for the 13/14th gen retail CPUs.
I doubt both Intel and AMD will extend baseline warranties for an extra 2 years as a new policy that covers all retail CPUs.
Aside from major design flaws like these Intel chips, do CPUs ever just die from normal use? I’ve had every single other piece of equipment fail in my decades of building PCs (probably like 50 total) but never the processor
It is rare, but it happens. I think they usually die as a result of less-than-great PSUs.
Step 1 - Build defective CPUs Step 2 - See stock price in free fall Step 3 - Fire 15% of staff Step 4 - Profit
Capitalism works you guys!
We’ll extend your warranty… but good luck proving that it was a fault on our part!
