TLDR:
- Check out the inventory here and send me a PM. The Google Sheet is the Master; it stays updated with what’s still available.
- Check the RAM, Drives and PSU tabs for other components.
- Provide serial number of item(s), paypal email address, and shipping zip code (I’m 08854, USA).
- I will reply with the total price. If you accept, I’ll send an invoice request through paypal (make sure your paypal mailing address is up to date).
- Once paid, I will share tracking info when I ship.
Check out r/repurposeddattos to collaborate on these devices!
I have a new paypal so repeat buyers, don’t be surprised. My main goal is to get these to people who can use them and save them from the landfill. Check out the inventory in the link above and let me know if you’re interested. Some of the Datto ALTO 3 V2 units are missing SATA cables and case bottoms. I can’t do anything about the cables, but I will 3D Print case bottoms for those without. Links to the .STLs are listed below for free if you want to DIY.
I have some AC adapters, RAM, and drives so you can have a complete unit shipped to you. Just pick and choose matching components from the Sheets to build it. I get these from other sources so they come and go.
Please check the very bottom of the post for answers before asking a question.

General Notes
-
Please see Google Sheet (#1 in TLDR) to view inventory status. If all units of a model are sold out, I will strikeout/remove that item above.
-
These units are sold as-is. I cannot guarantee how long they will last. I don’t know where they come from. I’ve said in earlier posts on reddit, I get them from a metal scrapper who doesn’t know computers. This is why I test 100% for functionality before listing them.
-
I use Passmark’s CPU Benchmarks to get a reference for these units. I’ve plugged in the CPUs of some listed above.
-
MiniPCs with limited components (more working units than bottom cases, 2.5" SATA cables) will be sold complete by order priority until I run out, unless requested otherwise.
-
I don’t have many 2.5" drive screws. Sorry.
-
User reports these units work on a wide range of voltages, perfect for battery use
-
The Realtek RTL8111 Dual-NIC in many of these models is compatible with FreeBSD, which means they will work with OPNsense and pfSense
-
Redditor u/MrDrMrs flashed the Zotac firmware on a S3X1
-
I have WiFi Antennas for the WiFi models (ALTO 2 & S3X1 WiFi) available for $3. These are the ones I got
Referenced above

Here’s an AC Adapter I’ve bought works well:
- non-affiliate Amazon link
- If you want to get one yourself: 19V @ 3.42A with 5.5mm/2.5mm (OD/ID) w/ positive center
-
WiFi/BT m.2 I’ve been referring (non-affiliate link)
- Have not bought. Pulled Part No. off of Datto units with installed card. I have a couple extra listed on their own tab on the Google Sheet.

One user reported a Celeron 3855U. I functionally test 100% of units, but not each unit’s hardware specs if they are visually identical.
-
EDIT 12/20/2022 I no longer have OEM case bottoms. 3D Printed bottom covers will be available for $2.
-
Units lack 2.5" drive holder. 3D Printed piece will be available for $1.
-
FREE 3D PRINTED FILES. You’re welcome to save a couple dollars and print these components out yourself.
- 2.5" drive holder - Redditor /u/KeithMon created this one. I modeled the OEM drive bracket here.
- Bottom for Datto ALTO 3 V2 - Design In Progress
- Bottom for all other Datto Units
- Alternate case for the ALTO 3 V2
- Use 2280 m.2 drives on the ALTO 3 V2. Usually only fits 2260 m.2 drives.
-
Bottom case screws for the Datto ALTO 3 V2 are M2.5 x 40mm with a pan/flat head.
-
Bottom case screws for all Datto units (except ALTO 3 V2 & S4X1) are M3 thread. OEM screws have rubber heads that act as feet. I bought socket-head cap screws to use with the 3DP bottom cases which sit inside, letting the case rest directly on the surface.

WiFi Card for ALTO 3 V2. I tested one of these second hand. There are kits on Amazon that come with antennas.
This is copy-pasted from my typical reddit posts. I left in the mention of r/repurposeddattos because I’m unlikely to create an equivalent community on lemmy.
