Good to see the free market in action. I’m sure this merge will be good for consumers, encourage innovation, and ensure that the barriers to entry are not set too high.
Can’t wait to hear what John Oliver has to say about this
…what ever happened to bards?..
Seventy-two BILLYUN dollars!!

Quality will go down for all 3 and now they’ll cancel even more shows before they complete.
Curious to see whether they combine HBO and Netflix. In the article netflix answers in an ambiguous way.
I bet they are trying to calculate whether this will bring in less money if they combine them, because they can’t just jack up the price of netflix subscription to double immediately after the merging of the two platforms. Many have both Netflix and HBO subscription so it might actually reduce the revenue.
Maybe at first.
If I were Netflix CEO, I’d put the HBO apps in maintenance mode. Sit on it. Move most devs to the Netflix app and give them time.
Then, when the last price hike is out of memory, sunset the HBO app, make a prominent “HBO” section in Netflix to milk that brand, and use all that to cover/justify a (small) price hike.
I mean…better that than Skydance…but also maybe let’s stop consolidating properties.
Aw man, HBO was the only streaming service I kind of liked.
Was it mainly for Studio Ghibli movies? Yes.
Can’t wait for the price hikes to continue.
Well, at least HBO content might become accessible through a decent UI and keep the same name for more than six months.
I just can’t wait to read about the creative ways in which they screw up the name next. “Netflix presents Max HBO Cinemas”.
Bn? Bananas? I can pay 75 bananas for Warner.
billion of course
Nah, not interested then.
C’mon, you get this neat Bugs Bunny hoodie with it!
