Ah ok. So far, upgrades on Linux seem quite messy in my experience. I still don’t fully get why libraries need to pull 1-2 GB of updates every other day, for instance. I don’t mind keeping up with bleeding edge distros, but the data usage can get irksome.

That’s fair, I don’t like being tied down to their hardware either.

Using current phone rather than buying a different one to replace it is a lot less ewaste.
I am also going to see what happens with Graphene’s new partnership. I don’t really like the idea of being locked down to specific hardware.

What are some examples of broken upgrades? I can’t really think of any of Kubuntu, except that the recent major distro update broke my fan’s RGB and they run proprietary Windows-only control programs so I can’t fix it.

I want to try GrapheneOS. But my current Samsung phone still works. If I ever do switch, I would be looking for a Pixel on the local resale market so as to avoid giving Google money, anyway.

The US-based flagships do.

What’s the adjustment like with immutable systems?

There are extremely idiot-proof solutions like Stremio.

V for Vendetta is starting to look more like prophecy than fiction…
Wow, thank you for this.
I gotta say, apt-get is not my favorite way to update… yay is so much simpler.
Tell that to the modern web though.
hall effect switches
Is that another term for optical switches?
How many attempts was that?

Hell yeah, digital humanities! I love the intersection of technology and cultural/historical preservation.

I am really excited that solar tech has come such a long way and continues to improve/become accessible. Hope the trend continues! I would love to be able to take advantage of one of those balcony solar panels one day. Not everyone has a giant house/backyard/garage.

For some odd reason, this calls to mind an emotionally immature parent trying to get their toddler to eat vegetables… no reason at all…
I’m fairly new and happened to choose KDE for my own taste, but I would argue GNOME is not “fully” polished as per this post. The nits there may be small or mindless to GNOME diehards, but from a design standpoint, they seem pretty… rough.
