A surprising new study found that people who sleep near their dogs don’t experience disrupted sleep. If anything, the University of Toronto researchers discovered, we humans are the ones disturbing our dogs’ sleep.

And we feel safer sleeping with our dogs, hinting at “a deeper evolutionary history” between humans and dogs, said study co-author Ming Fei Li, who was a graduate student of evolutionary anthropology during the research.

Same. I wake up multiple times per night when my dog sleeps touching me. Hopefully being in the same bed is enough for the benefits.

I have peer-reviewed this claim and find it to be 100% correct. My cat barely allows me to sleep on her side of the bed!

Cats aren’t that crazy…. I mean, mine is, she protects the bathroom when I’m going #2 and swats at my dog if she wants to sniff the bathroom. Both are bonded to each other and me, but my cat is an asshole and my pittbull is the nicest soul to have existed on earth.

Everyone seems to be taking this as the dogs being in the bed. Our dog is welcome to be there but prefers not to. Im pretty sure she gets to hot. She only goes on 1: to wake us up or 2: when she is really scared. She does however often lay on the floor right next to me and I will sometimes pet her if im awake at the time. She is still sleeping nearby.

I let my dog sleep in my bed with me last night.

He kicked the living ever shit out of me most of the night.

It’s like he’s dreaming he’s Jason Bourne or something constantly running from a hostile government or whatever.

    He’s 100 lbs American bulldog.

Woke up to my dog doing his “hey!…hey!…” complaining noise this morning to look over and see that my husband had rolled into his back on top of the dog and the dog was stuck under his shoulder, so I guess it works for him at least

I miss my fluffy, but there’s no way I’d let her sleep with us. She was way too big. Bed dog is bed hog.

She was like having a 3rd human in the bed that starts off in small mode then spreads out to full size.

Growing up I had a similar sized (large) dog and when it was just me and doggy in my full sized bed, he would strategically find the absolute center of the bed and take over. Then he’d suck on the blanket for whatever reason. Didn’t chew on it, just mouthed it or something but it was WET. 4am move your leg into a big cold wet soggy bit of blanket soaked in dog drool is NOT fun. He also farted a lot.

Well nobody has mentioned that dogs smell like tostito corn chips. That’s not a smell I want on my couch where my wife lets me sleep.

This comment section is full of people who don’t take their dogs on walks. Getting kicked in the middle of the night by your dog is a sign that you don’t exercise your dog enough.
