Maybe. All the cases in the US so far have been parents putting it in their kids’ candy, either to harm them or for attention (Munchausen syndrome, or whatever it’s called).

Could be the urban legend breathed life into something like this happening. Had that happen with the urban legend of people sticking razor blades behind stickers. Never believed it until a friend of mine got a nasty cut. Some nazi put a razor blade behind one of their stickers and it sliced my friend’s fingers. They’re fine now but still.

We were sure to warn fellow activists immediately but even then with photos and everything people still insisted it was just a legend. Extremely frustrating.
