    For apps developed to temporarily share nudes like Snapchat I totally get the detection feature. It’s not difficult to circumvent detection of course, especially with root access, but low skill, low effort screenshot detection makes sense.

    I don’t know why Tiktok is doing it, though.

    If you care about this stuff, I don’t think it’ll be too hard to write a Zygisk module to null out the callback for the screenshot API, and this becomes especially easy with Revanced patches, though with Revanced you’ll need to deal with this per app rather than system wide.

      Even without root you can just remove the apps screenshot detection permission with Lucky Patcher or something similiar

        If the attempt to register the listener fails, the app will notice. Depending on how important the app developers deem the listener, that may end up preventing you from using the app.

        Of course patchers like revanced and lucky patcher can patch out that detection code as well, but it’s a bit harder than removing a permission from the manifest.

        It is often used for chat now! But “disappearing messages” for mainstream users sure weren’t invented for privacy reasons.
