It’s a Moto G 5G 2024 (Model XT2417-1) Factory Unlocked (Costed me $140 for the phone)
Done via a Steam Deck* running a Linux Mint on a (Live OS) USB Stick (USB Hub needed in order to plug in keyboard and mouse, the Boot Stick, and the OTG Cable to the phone, and the hub also needs to be powered.)
As for the unlocking, just look up the website and follow instrucion. Phone needs to be connected to the internet for about a week (6 days for me) to get the OEM Unlocking thing Un-Greyed so that you can toggle it on.
Seeing all those command lines feels like hacking :P
(*Who needs a computer when you have a steam deck as a computer xD)
(Yes I know about Graphene, but didn’t feel like getting a used phone that might not unlock, and definitely don’t wanna spend $500 for a new one)
I hope this is the inspiration y’all need to attempt this yourself. Because I’m a total noob and idk how command lines work and I did it by simply copy-pasting. Anyone can do it.
Is there apps you want me to test?
Chase’s app works fine, btw.
Not so much apps just stuff like fingerprint reader
So, everything seems to work. I got GPS working, camera and recording functions work, fingerprint works, I check settings and encryption seems to be enabled, Fennec with uBlock Origin works great and videos play; downloaded a bunch of apps lile food delibery apps, rideshares, money transfer apps (most of them I don’t even use, just testing it), they all seem to open, but I’m not gonna create accounts to test them.
Lyft requires Google Play Services, so it doesn’t launch, so that sucks. I think mobile site probably works if you need Lyft.
Some apps refuse to download from Aurora for some reason. ID.me and TD just wouldn’t download, but every other app works, not network issue, because I tapped download on TD (I don’t even use TD bank btw, but its a common bank some people use so I’d figure to test it), I get error message, it refused to download., then I go randomly download Wells Fargo, and it downloads just fine. Idk why that’s happening.
You could try MicroG in a work profile. You should be able to download the MicroG app from their website directly, and it should, in theory, “just work” after granting it the permissions.
