findmydevice on fdroid. you can use encrypted pings to your server at set intervals to track each device
Vanilla arch would be pacman -S python 🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸🥸
It’s really not that bad, especially if you pick a distro like Pop that has the drivers bundled so you don’t even need to touch it
Cameras recording high bitrate video generally use a better format than SD
Debian 12 itself isn’t bad
where did you get this stat? Do you mean “working” or “verified”? VERY FEW games in my steam library don’t work out of the box. I forget to check when I buy them, they work that consistently
psst they mean they don’t play anything else
to answer your question, Linux systems tend to be more stable than windows when it comes to just leaving it running and different distros have different tools for repairing files. Funny enough I actually fixed a windows installation using a equally user friendly tool that shipped with Ubuntu
so called free-thinking Microsoft help lines when presented with any problem whatsoever

I can packet inspect and watch them sell data? No lol they collect telemetry but you can use a derivative that doesn’t because it’s open source. That’s not the point though, the point is they don’t sell data. You can look at the finances yourself https://stateof.mozilla.org/
Mozilla literally doesn’t do that. If you’re concerned about them lying about it you can compile the browser yourself.
I’m not in disagreement with you, but I personally find dry “apple bad” takes to be a little overdone
I agree with you,I use FOSS software and old hardware all the time. I should have specified better but my point is that this is something that generally happens in the consumer electronics world. it doesn’t make sense as a dig against Apple in this context (comparing with competitors), given that iPhones don’t have a particularly short life cycle against competitors
i wouldnt discount the function of having four thunderbolt ports with equal capability, you can plug a charger into any of them and it’s pretty common to see thunderbolt docks being used with any brand now if an abundance of ports is the goal. External SSD’s can be hooked up with usb-c and most users don’t need usb-A anymore. All that is really missing for the average user is HDMI in my opinion, and that requires a simple adapter if the first party dock is too expensive.
basically it’s very practical for the target user,it’s not lacking in function just because it’s missing ports that most of its users wont care about
