this is a complete uneducated guess from a relatively tech-illiterate guy, but could it contain mac-specific information about weird non-essential stuff like folder backgrounds and item placement on the no-grid view?

gonna start lovingly referring to good software tools as “little fuckers”
hide the native tabs
YES! i currently have to use custom css to achieve this, would be so much more convenient if it was an extension
kinda excited to see what their native vertical tabs will look like. i’ve been using sidebery for the past ~3 years and i’m extremely satisfied with it, i somehow doubt their native version will look as good
yep, this is what i meant
moving large files
this is not a solution to the issue of mac for no reason not wanting to mount your drive, but are you familiar with SyncThing? i’ve been using it since like 2015 and have never had an issue, it’s super fast and local. requires both devices to be powered while transferring, though
thank you for the explanation and the examples :) i will no longer be so ignorant about security updates
i know you guys are probably right when you say that security updates are important, but why exactly? give me an example of how i could be fucked over while i’m just mindlessly playing my steam games and watching twitch+youtube on a system that hasn’t been updated since 2016.
i blindly assume that as long as i don’t download and run stupid .exes or click stupid links, i am completely fine
yes, absolutely, as long as we don’t become ignorant to the huge ethical issues with steam like their decade of running an underage gambling surrogate. sorry, i just take issue with the article pointing out flaws of xbox and playstation without counter-balancing those criticisms with something about valve. valve is certainly better than both sony and microsoft in every regard, but they are not innocent at all
gonna kiss myself with a cement brick if they let zuckerberg buy it and turn it into the same UX nightmare that reels is
windows sucks ass for this exact reason but linux is definitely complicated and filled with weird bugs as well lol. i guess those bugs are better than spyware though
sad that twitter users will jump to literally anything except mastodon. wake me up in 15 years when bluesky finishes its twitter elon musk cycle and it’ll be like i took a 12 second nap
well, not entirely, it doesn’t cost anything to switch operating systems. if something is a console exclusive, say goodbye to $570
very simple, i just host files on an external hdd on my macbook (which i use all day anyway) over plex, then watch through apple tv. i tried Infuse in the past, but their library and metadata handling is just atrocious (and there is like a 5+ year old active forum thread of people repeatedly begging the devs to allow “custom shows” through manually created .nfo files, but i guess the devs care more about superficial UI changes and abandoning their previous one-time purchase option in favor of subscriptions)
raycast, shottr, sketch, logic, final cut, motion, ia writer, things3, xcode
market share leads to demand, demand leads to supply
this benefits you
i fucking loved windows 7 so much dude. no telemetry hoops to jump through, no always-online, no “this won’t take a minute ;)” snarky ass tongue-in-cheek loading screens. give us back functional progress bars and the Aero theme
have not yet tried pop os, but +1 for mint!
that’s DuckDuckGo and “Names Database” CEO*, folks. PLEASE do not look to this man as a beacon for anything privacy-related, even when he says something true.
cheers!
