Trump’s ugly mug is going to start showing up on bags of grain being dropped on poor people around the world. I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped a load of rice on a rice farmers field in China.

How dare you be present! That’s just going to result in emotionally grounded adults with a sense of belonging.

How exactly is this unconstitutional? Where in the Constitution do we have a right to privacy? SCOTUS has ruled in past cases that some portions of the Constitution create zones of privacy or protect against government intrusion, BUT they most recently ruled in Dobbs that a woman’s medical decisions should not be private.

This might be the most anemic open ended bill I have ever read. On its face, it has no teeth. The most well defined portions of the bill are to make sure that applications have access to age data. Making this look more like a way for corporations to gather data and verify real people as opposed to online personas.

There is zero regulation actually defined and instead they have a 180 day period to define the regulation and a year for it to be contacted and implemented. The bill could pass tomorrow and we still wouldn’t know what age verification looks like.

As scary as these efforts are, they are also a bit humorous to me. By and large software exists independently of its creator, especially in the FOSS space. There would be no way to require an individual to install an OS that supported this or even use an updated browser that supported it.

Ultimately, the only way to really enforce any sort of age verification system is to force all content providers to have an age verification step. This presents as OS level, but you have to give people a reason to upgrade in order to implement. If Wikipedia suddenly required some sort of OS based age verification protocol to access its content, it would become a lot harder to avoid.

They are putting this at the OS level, but I think this is a way to back into removing anonymous access to the Internet.

I wonder how much of the down voting stems from people seeing “let me parent my own kids” as being tied to conservative propaganda used to support anti-woke bills in places like Florida.

Really wish these death cults would get on with it and leave the rest of us the fuck out of it.

I want to believe that they are, but they don’t have to worry about working long hours sitting on their asses. They get to make millions while paying a personal trainer and traveling the world.

I sit on my ass and eat. At this point I think my 7 year old could best me in fisticuffs.

Unfortunately we have seen many instances throughout history of ethno-religious supremacist ideology, specifically around abrahamic beliefs. Would removing such belief systems from society remove all hate and violence, of course not. But I’d argue that we would be in a better place as a society. Maybe if we weren’t trying to prove whose god was more right or whose belief was more righteous we could have a more just, loving, and peaceful society.

Look at the robo taxi situation they have going. The same tech that is stopping people off in the middle of the road is what is being used for FSD.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out that the whole thing is a scam and there is some sweat shop full of teenagers remotely driving cars. I feel like the random stops where they shouldn’t stop is exactly how someone who learns how to drive playing GTA would drive.

Recently I recreated my favorite drive. Runs grub, stores multiple distros it can boot from, has a standard exfat partition, and an encrypted partition.

In some ways that is the answer. Crashes keep happening because they are not being held accountable to regulators because they are not reporting these incidents and no one is exercising oversight to be sure the reporting matches reality.

I think over the years, accurate reporting by manufacturers has been done because they generally do not want to be known as that car company that killed a child and it could have been prevented with a 50 cent bolt. As a result, regulators have been less hawkish. Of course there are probably political donations in the US to help keep the wheels turning.

I’ve come to the realization, at least where I live, that a hell of a lot of accidents are prevented because of drivers who are actually aware and safe. This goes a bit beyond defensive driving IMO. I’m talking flat out accident avoidable. There is an entire class of drivers who are not even aware of the accidents they have almost caused because someone else managed to avoid their stupid driving.

The majority of accidents that are likely to happen with these robocoffins will be single car or robocoffin meets robocoffin. The numbers on safety after a year will be acceptable because non accident causing error prone driving is not reported in any official capacity.

I still maintain that the only safe way to have autonomous vehicles on the road is if they do not share the road with human drivers and have an open standard for communicating with other autonomous cars.

Or maybe this op was withheld because they had already done that.

Something that has been bothering me lately. Reasonable people who counter the toxic misinformation leaving the platform only allows the disease to grow and spread. But reality is they weren’t reaching the people that needed the dose of reality anyway. And then I realized that the algorithms have always been the disease, my feeds are my own echo chamber to drive engagement, just as theirs are. I’ve pretty much cut all social networks out. The only way to change minds is honest respectable conversation, and I am not a person to change anyone’s mind.
