Alternatively they may release certain models at inflated prices to test the waters with increased pricing
I didn’t think about that. Makes me wonder if that will be their plan for the 9800 X3D.

That’s because AMD hasn’t made a serious entry in the budget space since 2021. Until they release the Ryzen 3 8300 the only modern low end CPUs are made by Intel.
Anyone who says electric cars aren’t there are making inaccurate statements at best and at worst are telling non-factual ones. The truth isn’t that electric cars aren’t ready, is that the energy distribution isn’t ready. Only urbanized areas are prepared to offer that much energy at scale and living in an urbanized area you shouldn’t need a personal vehicle for most of your travels anyway.
Side note, this is why I think plug-in-hybrids are the baby step we need to achieve first. Even with their obvious flaws they fill the gap between an internal combustion engine and full electric.
Then start climbing the pirate ladder me matey. For the capin’s keeps their secrets from us crew, or else it’s the King’s rope for us all.
I’ve switched over to one disk redundancy to stretch out my spinning rust. If SSDs come down just a little bit more it’ll be worth it to replace my array. Just hoping two drives doesn’t die until then.
Realistically, it’s only a matter of time until Steam becomes as enshittificated as any other services. There is profit to be made from Steam selling advertising space and customer data. They can either choose to capitalize on the profits that are in front of them, or allow another company to and take that capital from them. For a business it’s not a matter of what’s right and wrong anymore but consume or be consumed. If Steam isn’t willing to do that someone else will be willing to play the long game and do it. Then it’ll be only a matter of time until Steam gets acquired by another company and then it’s game over.
Give it a few more months and ads will be back. They dropped us in boiling water and expected us to just accept it. Microsoft will just slowly boil us next time.
Small brain move: install Windows as a guest on a Linux host. Rip out so much of it’s guts it can’t show any ads and barely works at all. Declare victory over the desecrated husk of Microsoft Windows.

I think so. Like I said, I have a very basic understanding of it. There are definitely a lot of people who know more about this than I do.
From my very basic understanding, yeah that’s basically what it does. However it accounts for a whole lot more into adding or subtracting from UTC. Timezones aren’t absolute, they’re political. Timezones have weird rules, and history that needs to be somehow expressed in the code to get the right time. That’s what’s sets tz_database apart from just looking at a map and saying it’s +7 UTC.
Yeah, well that’s just, like, your opinion, man. (You mentioned the word opinion in a post referencing The Big Lebowski. I had to. Thank you for coming to my shit post.)
That’s when district management gets involved.
Problem: There are 19 sources of truth for this information
Solution: There are now 20 sources of truth for this information
C’mon I’m smarter than that, my password isn’t 1234. It’s 1235, what do you think I am, an idiot?
Neiche application like old industrial equipment. Sure 90% of it is well documented and properly sourced. Still there’s always that one piece of equipment purchasing got because it was cheap with no documentation and just a safety placard from the 90s. Regardless it needs to be integrated and you bet your ass no one has ever searched that. Then you’re back to basics, sometimes even BASIC.
I think people underestimate how good those self-service photo booths are or that they print more than photos. It’ll print whatever you tell them so as long as it can open the file.
My first job right out of college I was writing assembly for some epically old industrial equipment. That shit runs on its own language that was only ever used on that piece of equipment. Usually x86 but with some wacky modifications. There’s no compiler for that, just a manual the size of a textbook and a million chicken scratch notes in it that’s half covered in grease. I’m so glad I don’t do that anymore.
Part of me wishes I still had my families old 386 or commodore knock-off. Read some of the terrible short stories I wrote, play tanks. I remember when my Mom’s friend came over with a stack of 51/4 floppies and installed a program that played the Loonie Toons theme song with their logo and Buggs Bunny captioned saying “That’s all folks.” It blew my mind, video (sort of) on a computer, how was that even possible. I wondered how they got it to connect to the cable cause no way a computer could do that. Dang I’m getting old lol.
I recently had the realization that I’ve just been putting up with Windows bullshit forever recently when a friend asked me for help with their work PC. They’re a Mac user, but they just started working from home and have been provided a Windows laptop. They sent me a bunch of rushed texts when their headset stopped working. They changed the default audio device after they launched the program. Which never works on a Windows PC. I never have that problem because I have just learned to live with it, I don’t even think about it anymore.
Now I’m really starting to notice all the little things I put up with from Windows on my machine. To be fair my Linux machine is just as janky but at least I can say I made it that way. I keep telling myself to ‘tidy’ my Linux machine up but I never do, it still plays games just fine. Usually. If I didn’t fuck with it.
