I did it. Install v0.1.10 and give it a go.
I honest to god find Linux easier to use. Though it’s maybe because the most used programs on my laptop are neovim, gcc and rust compiler and Firefox . And I shit you not, Microsoft purposefully slowed down the Firefox browser I installed from their store.
Plus I like using a tiling window manager when coding, now in Linux I have 500 options. On windows I get a middle finger and a dedicated nsa/fbi agent. Whats not to hate?
It should be fairly simple to do… But I don’t have multiple monitors to test it. I am taking the day off for today, need to recharge, then I will patch that it.
Well there is a simple answer to it. I didn’t know about it.
The project looks quite cool though.
That’s the beauty of FOSS. You can do whatever the hell you want to your system. Fuck up the kernel if you so wish.
PS, I looked into the wiki and it is really cool, especially since it uses a proper language. I will try it some day but for now… I am totally burntout setting up eww. Maybe on my next rice I will give it a go.
Ohh eww is awesome. And don’t try to create everything from scratch, look up other people’s dot files, you will understand best practices.
If you want to take a peek … Here are my dotfiles
Just create multiple windows with different monitor ids and pass the literal to both. That should do it.
I recently coded up a dirt simple image viewer. Like it is stupidly simple.
You can give it a go https://github.com/Dr-42/imeye
I recommend fedora to every one. It’s the correct kind of stable distro. The kernel updates are slow to roll out after being tested and all… But guess what version of plasma I have? 6.1. That’s just a few weeks later than arch got it.
Plus not to mention how easy setting up my Optimus gpu was because of rpmfusion. I have never had such ease with any other distro.
So I recommend fedora all the way.
It’s because we can to an extreme. Extremely lightweight distro. Very nice in containers and vms. One of the most loved ones out there.
Windows people don’t get async saves? Wtf. Where are the Spyware benifits?
Factorio is so amazing on linux. Like the devas actually care about Linux. They care so much that went on to shit on Gnome for no client side decorations. Absolute legends. Wish more studios wer like them.
I don’t know about others here but I manually hibernate with
systemctl hibernate
And it works pretty well. I set up 16gb swap for my 16gb ram (Which I know is overkill) but it works. I am on Fedora 40
Use bottles. It works great for me.
Install bottles via flatpak. Run it and create a new bottle with the gaming preset. Got to the settings - > runners and download the latest “proton-ge” runner. Then just add the exe to the bottle and add it to your library. Launch to play.
It really helps smooth the curve. Some installers fail to open so I use the system default to install it and then copy them over to my games directory.
PS: if you see no exe files being listed when you try to add an exe, clear the file filter in the bottom to all files. Bottles has this weird bug on some DEs
You did this wearing a proper Gimp suit I presume
Man thanks for sharing the fizz buzz link.
Gotta resoect the tty. Consistently consitent
Doesn’t arch auto install 32 bit headers on enabling multilib?
I want to disagree. Like I get that installing arch maybe difficult for someone not familiar with the Linux environment, once you install it up and make it sweet looking, for daily use, it’s generally cool. A non tech savvy person is anyways going to be using the browser and office suite mostly, so I install Firefox with uBlock and install Libre office. I also install flatpak and packagekit and they can wasily install software from there, I recommend them to use flathub mostly and I have had only one of my friends machine borked because they read a little bit stuff online and installed stuff from the aur. And the aur borking a system is rare too.
The only prerequisite to giving new users an arch install is that you are there for support.
Absolute giga chads
