Dual booted for the longest time, until sometime last year. Windows partition is still there, but it’s been long enough that I’ve forgotten the password. 😳

Ah yes, the ol’ “promoted to the level of their incompetence”. SOP. Or SNAFU, take your pick.
It’s a topsy-turvy world.
Vivaldi M3 on desktop, K9 on mobile.
I came here to say this. I don’t really do networking so I don’t have much care for this issue, but the clarity of the explanation was enjoyable. Plus I learned a couple of little things too.
First distro I got to work was LibraNet. Easy to set up and use, ran by a father-son team. Died when the father passed away. 😥
Assuming they don’t own them already as a sort of pressure valve. Yeah I’m getting that cynical.
Classic Scylla and Charybdis. Good luck on your odyssey.
The people that have problems with Windows and have to ask for help, shouldn’t be using Linux because it’ll confuse the poor souls even further.
My mother got so fed up with her windows problems that she asked me to put Linux on her computer. While she still had problems after that, she found them manageable and was happy with it ever since.
The people that know exactly how to configure and use Windows with zero problems have no need to use Linux
Nobody has zero problems with either os. The difference is whether you want to deal with problems that are just technical, or due to incompetence and profit motive.
It would be easy enough to put a toggle in the settings for a ‘classic’ mode. I can see him doing that.
The zoom out cube is, but I’d also like the cube desktop switch effect back.
Thankfully I didn’t have to use it, but in looking it up at least I know how to now. Opensuse makes it pretty easy!
Yup, that was it. I rebooted using 6.8.8 and everything works fine now. I guess I have to do that until the next kernel update. Thanks!
No, AMD. Thanks anyway.
I see. The downside of rolling release, eh?
I do, although I’ve never had to deal with that before (just started a month or two ago) so I’ll have to look it up. Does it work on the whole drive, or can I do it by partition/logical volume?
I have 6.8.9-1. I’ll have to look into it, thanks!
Ooh, can we start the SCSI thing again?
They have a series on Gates too.
The answer to OPs question is that these people they admired were just as bad, just better at PR. Unless you think that social media has had some kind of positive effect in outing these newer bastards. Being young and naive may also have been a factor (which I can personally attest to since I was a fan of MS back in the 90s before I learned about them).
