Even in the past 3 years there has been a noticeable decline. We moved 4 years ago to where we now live. The first spring and summer the place was buzzing with insects. We actually made the entire garden much more insect friendly but last year there were noticeably less than the previous year and this year it’s just dire. In april I walked around our back garden which was full with flowers and I had to stay in one spot for several minutes before I spotted the first bee. I am incredibly worried and depressed from this. It’s horrifying.

In order to forget, one must first have remembered something, so probably no.

Yeah, for the EU, China will have to open up its economy for open and fair competition, get rid of its IP sharing requirements and stop manipulating the Renminbi to keep it artificially low. Even then it should be quota based to stop them from dumping practices to take out local competitors.

Not expulsion, there is no mechanism for that. Voting right suspension and no cohesion funds are the maximum punishment possible under the EU constitution. That would require ratification by all other members though, so as long as there is one government (Slovakia being the most likely) blocking that, not much happens. That wouldn’t make the point moot to take those steps. Governments change and the groundwork can already be laid for it, or pressure piled on the blocking countries.

And then what? He will just ignore them, then stack the courts if not simply replace the SC judges. Who is going to stop him at this point? He got away with every single crime in his life, of which there are too many to count. He’s ignoring court orders and ruling by illegal executive orders. Nothing but an armed insurrection is going to stop him now.

This ship has sailed and won’t change course without a mutiny.

It’s quite easy actually. Just google linux surface and you will find the project website where they list all surface models and potential issues with installation guidelines. I have a pro 8. The only thing not working are the cameras as nobody has figured out the drivers yet.

I have similar experiences. I converted my surface laptop to linux and overall I’m happy that I did, but games that ran fine on windows now are unplayable because I can’t get it to work properly, neither with wine, unbottled nor proton.

I still have a W10 gaming pc and I planned on converting it to linux with pop os being the frontrunner, but I will keep it on dual boot with the fallback scenario of just going with W11. Linux is not and might never be ready for mass adoption because it is simply too reliant on volunteers, forums and self-troubleshooting for that.

Microsoft and Apple provide OS’es that are thoroughly tested and validated with firmware and drivers that are specifically written for them by people whose job it is to do that. It might not always be perfect, but it usually does what it needs to do right away.

That’s not honest at all. European leaders may not always have liked how the Americans operated, but there always was a large amount of respect that stemmed from much more than just military might. The US has been a frontrunner humanitarian aid, soft diplomacy, scientific research and economic development since at least the end of WW2. Europe looked to the US to take the lead in global conflicts because the US always took the lead and would not have it otherwise.

With the Trump 2.0 administration however, European leaders do look down on the US administration for their incompetence and severe lack of manners and decency.

Having no shame is actually a perfect tool against blackmail. Take for example the former Indonesian president Sukarno. Sukarno was delighted when the KGB told him they had a tape of him having an orgy with Russian flight attendants and asked if he could have some copies. The CIA also tried and failed to blackmail him with (fabricated) sex tapes.

That goes both ways though. Not every part of an F35 is made in the US. In fact, the supply chain is pretty spread out over a dozen countries.
