Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.

Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.

Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

  • That’s the point.

Set the bar low, but just high enough that tons of people still trip over it.

Sit back and enjoy the comment wars.

The people who are confident but wrong are too proud to admit they were wrong even if they realize it, and comment angrily.

The people who are right and know why, comment for corrections and some to show off how S-M-R-T they are.

The people who are wrong but willing to accept that just have their realization and probably don’t think about it again. So do the people who don’t know and/or care.

But those first two groups will keep the post going in both shares and comments, because “look at all these wrong people”

It’s all designed to boost engagement.

  • I mean… Never by our current civilization.

With climate change ramping up, less and less will be devoted to space and exploration, and more resources focused on maintaining order and keeping people fed and working.

So unless the rest of the world can rally together in the next 50 years, we, our current civilization, will be likely nearly wiped out in the coming centuries. Not totally, I don’t think. But modern society will not survive.

Now, I fully believe the rest of the world is completely capable of doing this, the question is can enough people in positions of power put aside petty differences and work for the betterment of humanity. Because clearly my government won’t.

The titles is definitely click bait, and if they really believe it they’re delusional.

  • Ooh how many times have you heard that it’s somehow your fault for not doing enough to get anyone else elected, your fault for not having a degree, your fault for not seeing this coming 10 years ago and making plans then, or your fault for being a dirty American who is American and therefore deserves all the bad things happening?

I’ve gotten all these, and more.

My personal favorite was being told in the same conversation by two different Canadians, that I should move to Canada, AND that Canada doesn’t need some “backwards ass hillbilly trash who wants to fuck his guns as much as his sister” because I mentioned I have family, no college education, and firearms.

Personally I’d prefer to move to an EU country, but if the US ever really did want to invade Canada, I’d want to be there to help defend Canada. You know, with my guns. I’ve inherited quite a few, have training to use them, and am absolutely willing to train minorities on their use to defend against fascist racist phobic pieces of human refuse.

So basically for one reason or another, country on the planet seems to want someone like me.

Instead we get to sit here, in this shit hole country. Grasping at anything to try and help pull it back from the massive sinkhole it’s slipping into. Hoping that enough people help us to make a difference.

    I don’t think there’s a relevant peanuts panel for this…

  • A lot of comments here are displaying their ignorance of nuclear technology.

Keep eating up the oil company talking points, I guess. “hey guys remember those nuclear meltdowns from outdated reactors that had all kinds of things going wrong because of poor design and decision making, most of which is no longer an issue? Yeah things blow up so better keep chugging away at those fossil fuels while we sabotage any investments into renewables”

I mean goddamn, the “worst” disaster in the USA was a big nothing burger that was sensationalized by newspapers that knew how to sell a headline, and oil companies that knew how to leverage any sort of negative press to their advantage.

When the fallout from nuclear disasters doesn’t come close to the amount of radiation out off by burning and refining fossil fuels, there is no argument.
