No kidding. “Playable” includes a reason, at least, but we really need a better filter. I know they want to keep things as idiot proof as possible, but “advanced options” exist for a reason.

I mean, I’m not, but only because I am too lazy to change (so far). I’ve been remarkably content with the Steam Deck desktop experience, so I’m leaning more and more towards Linux.
It’s easier for people who don’t know what they’re doing. The limitations keep those users from breaking things and provide a decent out-of-the-box experience for the user. The very same limitations feel, well, limiting to users like you.
You called it an expensive paper weight. Insulting something that people like will often prompt them to defend it. It’s perfectly fine to not like something. It’s fine to point out objective flaws in it. However, don’t call something bad (which is essentially what you did) just because you don’t like it. That starts arguments.
To be clear, I don’t want to argue here. I just want to point out an observation that has impacted how and when I state my opinion.
This sounds like a “you” problem.
Yeah, that’s a hard pass from me.
Are netbooks making a comeback?
Does the Switch have any exclusively-online games? That’s a genuine question that I’m interested in for comparison purposes.
I think it’s a load of shit that any single-player experience requires an internet connection. I still know people with shoddy enough connections that they can’t play games like Diablo 4 on their desktop pc. However, I don’t think that it should disqualify a game from being Verified.
So, is it actual discrimination, or is it just that their data Facebook has shows that other ads are better suited to them, statistically, in terms of profit? I’m sure all sorts of patterns show up in the quantity of data they have, and algorithms show ads based on these patterns. It’s possible that gender is a factor, but it seems just as likely that there are other patterns (perhaps some common to a given gender) that factor into this result.
Edit: To be clear, I did not read the article, because I don’t actually care that much. I just find statistics and patterns interesting. Having worked in insurance in the past, I was always curious about which exact information factored into premiums, and in what way. I know everything from marital status, to job, education, location, age, credit score, and much more, factored into decisions, and not always in ways you may expect – all based on statistics.
Because I never particularly liked the alternatives.
Why not squirrel?
sigh I’ll let my wife know…
I’m sorry, but if Windows was that hard for you to install, you did something majorly wrong. I haven’t installed 11 on anything, but 7 and 10 were both cakewalks that practically hold your hand all the way through. It’s the last step when building a PC – after the actual work is finished.
If you have little experience with Windows, you may just be suffering from its “easiness.” It lets you do less in order to protect the less knowledgeable user. From personal experience in similar matters, I can attest to how frustrating that can be. You don’t want Windows to do it for you, you just want to do it! So you try to find a way to do things your way, bash your head against a wall, get frustrated, and ultimately take much longer to do anything.
So, I’m getting the distinct impression that I should not attempt a switch to Linux while I have an NVIDIA graphics card. Is that an accurate assessment?
Rival dreadnaught!
RTFD, or something like that.
The problem with Special Powder is that it means giving up my Embedded Detonators. I play solo, so I like a versatile load out.
I’ve used my Steam Deck as a controller (via remote play) while sitting at my desktop PC. It is by far my favorite of the various controllers I’ve used.
