Not in any way the average user cares much about.
The causal social media user cares for two things:
A constant uninterrupted stream of content
Dopamine in the form of upvotes/likes/what have you
If these two things aren’t interupted, 90% of users won’t care.
Let’s be honest with ourselves - no, it won’t be wildly unpopular. This change affects very few people and the people still using Reddit at this point likely won’t care much, and I have doubt any future change would cause much outrage either.
Because think about this - who is actively complaining and gnashing their teeth about the continued downward spiral and still scrolling, posting, moderating there at this point? I’d love to believe more people would jump ship - but if it ever happened it would take a far larger-scope fuckup than anything we’ve seen so far.
There is a point where more users may bring more downsides than upsides - but we haven’t reached that point yet. There are still many many niche communities that have no equivalent here and starting them would never take off with the current number of people.
I use the Warthog with 1-1-2-2-1 and Magnetic Pellet Alignment. It will kill common bugs with a single shot to the mouth at decent range, has a good firing rate, and the ammo is plentiful. You can use the turret whip to get stragglers on the ceiling out of your effective reach. It does struggle a bit with larger enemies, though, I admit.
Modding is the way
Imagine if you could decorate your little bedroom, and then “take it with you” when you join a lobby.
I am subscribed to over 100 channels, ranging from daily uploads to 1 video every few months. Frankly I don’t need more stuff to watch. When I do want to find something new, it’s either a recommendation from a friend, something I saw on a different social media, or something I searched for myself deliberately.
This change isn’t a good thing, it’s Google trying to pressure more people into giving up more data, but the “threat” of them removing their algorithmically recommended content from my feed is not a threat at all, it’s a bonus if anything.
Skins for more things. Drop pod skin, resupply pod skin, doretta skin, molly skin; have the host’s skins applied by default but then have a toggle to pick a random persons’s skins instead.
Nothing that skilled but hot damn was I sweatin.
You bet your beard it was satisfying.
It’d be cool the way you describe it, and a good money sink. I’d pay a million credits for a solid gold Molly statue.
To add onto that, things like drop pod, Molly, and Doretta skins would be cool too (game could default to the host’s skin).
PvP.
Two teams of 4 dwarves, starting at opposite ends of the cave, one from “another rival company, damn traitors” (which team? Who knows). Can’t leave until the other team is all downed. Whoever lives gets a bonus, but the losing team still gets credit for completing the mission if they complete a secondary objective. Crank up the bug spawns to the point where both teams might consider taking a break from fighting to team up during a wave.
Maybe it wouldn’t work, and maybe it would foster a negative environment, but damn a dwarf can dream.
Here’s some Engi tips from me:
Have your turret(s) at least partially covering a wall or other vertical surface; generally dwarves have an easier time taking out lots of bugs on the ground, but struggle a bit with walls and ceilings.
Related to the above, consider having your turrets facing backward toward you, at some distance. They’ll cover your back and alert you to incoming enemies you can’t see.
Go ahead and platform every vein of ore or mineral deposit you can see when you enter a new area. Your Scout will appreciate it greatly.
Lootbugs eat dropped loose minerals, and when killed will yield a larger amount than what they ate. It can be worthwhile to let lootbugs munch on some stuff if you plan to return later, to harvest a bigger bounty.

The game is Deep Rock Galactic, a PvE game where you play as a team of dwarves mining resources on an alien planet infested with hostile flora and fauna (namely, a whole lot of bugs).
As for the context of the clip:
So, after reviving my downed friend here, they tried to mine their way out of the pit they were stuck in, got launched by a terrain geometry bug backward, and then got absolutely destroyed by the Unknown Horror haunting the cave.
Gotta be honest, it was massive overkill. Pretty fun, though!
WE’RE RICH!
Because Reddit is in the unique position where a small amount of users can affect a vast swathe of their platform - moderators.
Most mods don’t care, by volume. The ones that do are often also the ones that are more active, more engaged, and more entwined with communities outside Reddit.
During the protest last year, polls come back favorably pretty much everywhere to shut down - but after the shutdown actually happened, a tidal wave of lurkers who never vote and never comment came out of the woodwork to complain and call it all stupid. Public opinion of all users is likely against practically any protest that could happen.
I don’t like it, but that’s how it is. The best realistic outcome is that a large contingent of content creators and more informed users leave the site - but how many of those are left that haven’t already vamoosed and are still willing to leave under some unknown worse circumstance?
