And that’s still if you are comparing AI to people which I think is completely ridiculous. If anything these things are just more complicated search engines with half the usefulness. If I search online about how to change a tire I can find some reliable sources to do so. If I ask AI how to change a tire it would just spit something out that might not even be accurate and I’d have to search again afterwards just to make sure what it told me was even accurate.

It’s just a word calculator based on information stolen from people without their consent. It has no original thought process so it has no way to transform anything. All it can do is copy and paste in different combinations.

Well they make a profit off of it, so yes. I have nothing against piracy, but if you’re reselling it that’s a different story.

Here’s an experiment for you to try at home. Ask an AI model a question, copy a sentence or two of what they give back, and paste it into a search engine. The results may surprise you.

That’s what my brother used to do. And ever since his car passed the threshold for being “too old” by Uber’s standards it’s actually made things easier. He goes to bars near closing time and offers people rides so they don’t have to take an Uber since he can charge less and still make more money than he ever did with Uber. It’s gotten to the point that he has regular customers to keep him busy almost year round.

If they keep going at this pace, even the average person will be sick of it. My company was already considering it (after some input from myself and a couple coworkers) after they first announced recall. We sometimes deal with sensitive information that we can’t share with anyone outside the company. Periodic screenshots, regardless of what Microsoft says they will do, is a huge security risk.

As soon as support for windows 10 is over I’m out. My new laptop had Windows 11 pre-installed so I switched it to Linux a few days ago after I realized Copilot installed itself without asking me. I’m using my laptop as a test run before I get it on my desktop so I can figure out which distro I wanna use when the day comes.

I remember watching this when it first came out and I was honestly as upset as him. But don’t worry, it’s for the benefit of everyone so they can make AI as best as they can or some shit. But really it’s just stealing with extra steps.

Remember that every single piece of AI art, music, and video you have ever seen was made entirely out of stuff found online and most likely taken without people’s consent.

Honestly I haven’t heard any good news about Microsoft in like 10 years. They just keep making awful decisions.

While I agree with you to a certain extent, these technologies always take different paths depending on those priorities. The thing with 3d and 2d graphics was that they were working with limiting technology. In fact I would even use that as an argument against just “building a better machine.” Back then they had to make software work with the limitations of the hardware. You couldn’t just duct tape two SNES’s together and get better performance. They had to be efficient or have no product to even release. Nowadays you can just buy more computing power. Even when it comes to graphics there are so many companies that release unoptimized software onto the market because the consumer can just “build a better machine.” Crypto has so much unnecessary redundancy that all of the computations just get thrown out the window while only 1 computer gets to add to the Blockchain and gets that reward for the actual mining.

Those older industries had more limitations than we did so they had to make it as efficient as possible. Now we have so much computing power there is no incentive to make things more efficient save for long term viability. Which none of these companies give a shit about as long as they are making money. I’m not saying they need to hit the magic “efficiency” button. I’m just saying they’re lazy and making everyone else pay the price.

That’s so unnecessary. The way we are going about “AI” is like brute forcing a password. Sure you’ll get the job done, but it’s the least efficient way to do it. I’m not saying I have the answer, but why not try and find a more efficient way to get the same results instead of building unnecessarily powerful PC’s? I can only imagine how much redundancy is present in those LLM black boxes. It’s just a word calculator.

That was one of My favorite things about Crunchyroll. I love going through the comments after finishing a series and seeing what others were thinking. I know anime fans can be pretty crazy, but I very rarely saw toxic comments. It was mostly people talking about a shared experience and was surprisingly wholesome the majority of the time. I even got some good recommendations about what to watch next because of it too

Honestly, I love windows 10 and windows 7 even more. I have had very little complaints with them and I miss 7 every day. But when support runs out for Windows 10 I’m switching. It seems every single day they come up with another stupid plan or “feature.” Whether it’s AI that’s barely helpful or forcing me to use their software and services, I’m exhausted with the obnoxiously aggressive tactics to get me to use them.
