You’d be surprised how many people actually need that. My boss is one of them and I constantly have to explain to him why shit like this is bad for us. We’re currently in the process of upgrading all our PCs to Windows 11 and I’m trying to convince him to let me install Linux on all the computers that don’t meet the hardware requirements. Fortunately we use an older version of Microsoft Office that doesn’t come with all the bullshit, but there will eventually be a day where we will have to “upgrade” that too. And because of this, I’m also trying to convince him to switch to something like LibreOffice.
Uploading all of our shit to OneDrive is not only a bad idea because we have our own secure servers in house, but it’s also a bad idea because we deal with a lot of files that could get us sued if it was leaked online. We don’t even let our servers connect to the internet for that very purpose. And it’s not a matter of if, but when windows starts uploading all of our shit to OneDrive it will be a complete disaster. And I’m sure there are a lot of guys doing IT at various other companies all trying to explain to their boss the same thing I am while they ignore the issue.

Oh no it’s that thing everyone would say would happen!

You are so naive it’s almost impressive.

Alright, then show me your text messages and location data over the past year. If you have nothing to hide then it should be no big deal, right?

No, they’re using the internet in general. Discord is just a platform that they can talk on and it’s fairly easy to use. It’s not like Discord advertises these servers and gets people to join them. What’s really happening is that these people are either seeking out these servers or are being sent invites from people already inside.
My point is that Discord is not the issue. If they crack down on Discord they will just find somewhere else to go. You’d have to control the entire internet in a similar way to Russia or China in order to actually stop it this way. It’s a societal issue that they are trying to solve by censorship instead of actually fixing the underlying issues that push people to extremism. I’m sure the majority of these issues would be solved by a system that actually prioritized mental health and getting people the help they need instead of one that pushes these people out of society because they are “insane.”

Most people in the real world outside of the internet didn’t even know who this guy was until yesterday, especially outside the US. When I was talking to my roommate after it happened the first thing he said was “who’s Charlie Kirk?”

Exactly. I couldn’t care less about Newsom as a person. And if literally any Democrat started fighting back I would support them. It’s such an easy strategy to win that I’m absolutely baffled by how cowardly Democratic politicians have been.

Google getting rid of all the things that made people want an android phone over an iPhone.

Imagine bribing politicians to get tax breaks as those same politicians start to take more of a cut than the other side would have taxed you. I’m starting to think everyone that is rich and powerful are also incredibly stupid.

Just downloaded it. Thanks my guy.

Already got it downloaded. It’s only like 100 - 150 gigabytes or something like that. Got it on my PC, my laptop, and my external hard drive. I don’t trust the powers that be to keep it intact anymore so I’d rather have my own copy, even if outdated.
I like how every company is pushing to replace programmers with AI yet it can’t even do the job of a receptionist.

Yet they got rid of pretty much all the cases against subscriptions and not having “one click cancellation” that the precious FTC was going after. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Sounds to me like those fossil fuel companies are using those new subsidies from the Trump regime to bribe other companies into switching. And since most tech companies only think of short term profit they’re totally down to go with the option that gives them a discount. Tech companies get cheaper energy while the fossil fuel companies get to make more companies dependent on their product for longer. In the short term, these tech companies will make truckloads of money. But in the long term, not updating the infrastructure to the modern age and actually going backward will only doom them, especially on the global market.

Wow, someone that is actually acting like a world leader instead of just bending over in advance and making a fool out of themselves.
Watching people like Keir Starmer around Trump is painful and I hope he loses sleep over how much of an embarrassment he is. And if I remember correctly, Starmer literally bent over for him at the G7 summit. Or when Starmer was talking during Trump’s visit last week and Trump literally said “enough” while he was talking and Starmer just shut up.
Edit: I was wrong about the second one. Apparently it was back in February and in context it was actually addressed towards the reporter that asked a question and not Starmer. See? Propaganda works both ways. :)

That’s not what the data said back in March. I highly doubt it’s gotten better.

They’ve been conditioned over the decades to consider them to be subhuman. I’m not saying that they are innocent, just that this is what they believe. Their propaganda is so effective that they no longer feel remorse for killing them as they see them as savages or monsters. In fact, they see themselves as the heroes of the story. And with every western country backing them up and giving them more weapons, what else would they think?

Yeah, and the man probably doesn’t even know what a satellite even looks like outside of stock photos and TV.
This is purely anecdotal, but I have been running into a lot of DNS issues over the past couple months where I work. 3 of the computers and even one of the laptops for remote work were having DNS issues that needed to be fixed. One even needed Windows reinstalled after fixing the DNS issue (Which was probably unrelated, but worth mentioning)
I’m honestly starting to think that the internet in general might be imploding. Not sure why, but replacing so many developers and programmers with AI might be responsible. Who knows, but it’s definitely very strange.
