That’s what Americans claim to save face. I’m a Vietnamese American and Asian history tends to suck in other nations. America used that narrative to justify invading another country and then dipping out when it was too hard.
I’m still going to overgeneralize, but here’s the actual history they don’t teach you. (History is much more interesting outside of school).
From the Vietnamese perspective, they initially didn’t want/need American help, but about HALF of Vietnam didn’t want communism. Similar to Korea, it was kinda like North vs South. America knew that Vietnam has potential to be another booming nation so they saw an opportunity to “help” Vietnam for profit and claim they’re fighting communism in the process. America doesn’t just “help” for the sake of good, we’re a nation of profit and greed.
During this war, South Korea’s involvement and then eventual American alliance actually helped South Korea flourish from all this new money they were getting. When Nixon saw that Vietnam was a losing war, he pussied out and ended up moving on to help Korea since that was the next “profitable” nation; even helping in “fighting communism” during the Korean War. Vietnam took a huge L after Nixon pumped and pulled resources so he partially caused the loss, too. Looking back now, America made the “right” call on South Korea as it’s now both rich AND has good US relations.
Most of the Vietnamese population today prefers a less communistic government but not much can be done. Government is just stupid powerful BECAUSE of communism in the first place. Like some long domino effect.
TL:Dr America is a sneaky country and does things that only benefit them. They couldn’t benefit from Vietnam so they moved onto Korea in “I’m done playing with you” style.
As a vietnamese American, my mom always told me stories about the shitty government. Most citizens in Vietnam know the laws are dumb too but can’t protest because the government is too strong now. Just know that EVERYTHING is regulated over there.
Emphasis on him suffering. The algorithm is incentivizing YouTubers to adhere to this meta. GN isn’t trying to mislead us, it’s just how the job is structured.
HDR and anti-cheats are the main reasons I can’t fully switch over. I am niche and particular about things so I do think I’d enjoy Linux if it weren’t for the games I play. I have an OLED display and too many hours in Valorant. It’s like I accidentally upgraded out of Linux.
Parts are expensive and profit margins are thin. What’s stopping us from buying parts on eBay and reselling those phones for profit? You pretty much end up with the cost of the phone to repair the phone.
MacOS is really the only one I never understood unless you’re really tied to the Apple ecosystem.
I’d argue the “just use Linux” meme is more relevant for Mac users than Windows.
I want to love Linux as well, but it does require some troubleshooting skills I’m too lazy for these days Additionally, some of my games require anti-cheats that just don’t work on Linux.
Just do it. I was hesitant as well but now there’s no going back. It’s actually like 5x faster.
I think the problem is that it’s super popular for those who already own a PC and have a huge Steam Library. I got console friends wanting a Steam Deck but ultimately don’t want to buy one because it means rebuying their games.
Obviously it’s not exactly a 1:1 comparison, but think of the image having HDR metadata like an HDR YouTube video. Even though it’s compressed, it could still contain HDR attributes like 10-bit color or a certain screen brightness when viewing the specific images.
Discord streaming is the way. Most of my friends don’t care about super high quality either so a little compression doesn’t hurt. Plus there are ways to bypass the 720p restrictions, too.
I mean if it was intentional. I don’t think a single person out there is actively and purposely trying to code 911 not working.
Everyone sleeping on qBittorrent with the search plugin enabled. I never have to go to websites ever again, I can just pull from various domains with one search built into the program.
Elden Ring is approaching 2 years in a few months and I can’t believe it’s still going this strong.
I gotta say the switch commercial is probably the most clever at attracting the Apple folk. Tbh it really is as easy as plugging in a cable and hitting transfer. My mom recently went from Android to Apple and she pretty much has to start completely fresh; some apps even refuse to accept Android backups because Apple isn’t huge on file managers.
It my personal dream phone. I wanna ditch my tablet one day but it's still pretty functional as a media consumption device.
Competition is good. I've been an Apple hater for years but I'll acknowledge their engineers are top notch (lol). Every company has its good and bad sides.
My personal dream phone would be a combination of a bunch of phones. Give me Apple hardware running PixelOS on a folding screen with a headphone jack.
Eh, it's still decent. I'm going on 2 years strong on my P6 and I'm still averaging 6.5-7ish hours of SoT a day. As a Pixel fan, my only honest complaint is their value doesn't hold well in the long run. You can get older pixels at a heavily discounted price in the used market.
Remember that Google has their apps and system updates be different. The app itself will need to be updated through the playstore.
I do really like this move because sometimes new features come to older Pixels that aren’t even supported anymore.
Using Linux isn’t hard. Switching to Linux is hard.
