NFT, Blockchain, dot Com boom, there’s always another one

Not to derail, but may I ask how did you become an AI Engineer? I’m a software dev by trade, but it feels like a hard field to get into even if I start training for the AI part of it, because I’d need the data to practice =(

But it’s such a big buzz word I feel like I need to start looking that direction if i want to stay employed.

Wrote a couple famous books about Clean Code, Architecture, Test Driven Development, OOP, and Agile.

I thought bringing Taiwanese working conditions to the US would help.

I wonder if you could have an instance federated to every other instance just for archived purposes, to save the data on every other instance’s post and comment. Because copies of posts and comments are saved to federated instances, too, right? Or do I understand the tech wrong?

So it could have an admin team but no users, to prevent people worried about spammers and bots joining that instance to get around defederation rules. Maybe it just has a bot that crawls Lemmy, looking for instances to federate to. Could that work?

You can’t do it from the bottom up because you just get racists who won’t hire people, like the black guy recently who changed his name on job applications and started getting interviews. I’ve seen that happen with friends, too.

That’s a big step considering the people who would make the laws are corrupt from lobbying.

I love that they’re treating all the companies equally, like Meta and Alphabet, too. Unlike the US. How do we get EU tech policies in the US? 😭

It’s not China actively manipulating things. It’s the algorithm that was getting gamed by the right wing. It’s not like the Cambridge Analytica scandal where Facebook was working directly with companies that were trying to get Trump elected. It’s more like the pipeline on YouTube, where it’s just algorithms funneling people into what’s popular ends up being gamed by conservative people. In the US, Tik Tok was known for helping the “woke left”, so obviously it’s not the same big conspiracy controlling both.

The thing is, it can also be used for good in that it can show people things like what’s happening in Palestine without being censored by the US, like other US controlled social media has been.

Woah I had no idea. Seems like it wasn’t that long, but still, hilarious.

So have Muslims and Christians. Doesn’t give them the right to kill all the other people and take their land. Not to mention everything they do to encourage settler colonialism, like giving settlers a free pass from Europe or the US to come in and take homes from natives in the area. You can find so many examples of random people from Germany or New York who show up and are given a house that belonged to some Palestinian family for generations.

If the occupying state is dismantled, how can one live peacefully with the people who tortured you, your family and society for decades and made your life hell…

South Africa pulled it off. But yes, it basically required dismantling the state completely from what it was. South Africa as it existed before and after apartheid are essentially different states with the same name. They got a new Constitution and everything. They still have a lot of problems with the white population having a majority of the land and money, but there’s nowhere near the violence there was beforehand. Everyone mostly lives in peace together now. It can be done. The same thing happened with the IRA in the UK.

We would need to do the same thing. Dismantle Israel completely down to its roots, build something new in the same place from scratch, a place for both Palestinians and Israelis can live together. Some people would be pissed and there’d be some trouble in the beginning, but most people want to live in peace.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I imagine that qBittorrent doesn’t automatically search for better versions of your media, automatically rename and move files to your specification, automatically evaluate search results to choose a download that matches your desired quality, automatically search for desired media when it is released (like new episodes of a currently running TV show), automatically import subtitle files or extras to your library, or automatically grab metadata for all your media.

Those parts do sound pretty good lol

What’s the advantage of downloading these over setting up the qbittorrent search function to search multiple torrent sites when I type something in there, as it does for me now?
