To unlock your bootloader you need to enable usb debugging and oem unlocking in the dev settings. The rest of the steps are done in fastboot; a secret menu. From there you need to connect your phone to a pc with android sdk and your phones drivers installed.
Here it gets way complicated but the short version is that on the pc you use a tool called adb to make your phone go into fastboot. With adb you also ask your phone for a string, which you send to its manufacturer, who then hopefully sends a more different one back. That last string is then used to unlock the bootloader
Android at its current best is neat, but often vendors will have their tweaked rom which hide or break many of androids functions. For example, the stock MiUI/HyperOS (or whatever xiaomi calls it now) on my Redmi 13C doesnt have the option to view saved wifi networks in its borked settings app.
I hope this, together with custom ROMs seemingly keeping sideloading possible in the future, only helps with their popularity. Alternatively it would be really cool to see the mobile Linux community bloom.
Heard Samsung phones shipping with their OneUI 8 and onwards will not have an option to unlock the bootloader. Not a dealbreaker for many if you dont dvelve into rooting or installing other operating systems on your phone tho.
In firefox, type “about:profiles” in the search bar and press enter. (Please note that this shouldnt open your search engine) This will open a menu in that tab that claims: “This page helps you to manage your profiles. Each profile is a separate world which contains separate history, bookmarks, settings and add-ons.” I hope this is close enough to the solution youre after!
