It’s so intimidating how fast Primagen is with Vim. Wish I had the time and his stamina to learn a fraction of what he does with motions. He once said he kinda cringes when he has to watch people using a regular IDE.

Anyways. Vim nerds may despise this but I’d never would try to tailor my own Neovim config. I straight up started with LazyVim. Still not free from confusing elements but after I jotted down all my most needed motions and used them over and over, it is approximately usable. Still fuck up some motions and end up with gibberish, still faster with a regular IDE, but I now would know my way around Vim, if no other editor would be around.

What the community has accomplished to create within a TUI is astounding. Equally the amount of work that has gone into plugins. Code completition and debugging support, e.g. for Rust is excellent.

Owning a “refurbished” (some other fediverse user told me those are shit though) Pixel 6 for a year now as I don’t need the latest and greatest and wanted to test drive GrapheneOS. Previous phones were mostly new low to mid-price Motos with LineageOS. But this beats them all. The camera is great. National (FOSS) ID app works via NFC with my physical ID-card. Navigation (also offline and with integrated TTS) with OsmAnd works great. Google’s camera app works even without activated Play Service. KDE-Connect works. Using the excellent Fossify apps for calendar, gallery and file manager. JTXBoard for notes and tasks where the latter are synced to my Nextcloud (as well as calendar appointments, contact list, RSS-News, podcasts via gpodder-Nextcloud sync). The exceptional FUTO keyboard supports Speech-To-Text and swiping via local AI and models (which works very good).

I install most apps via Obtainium directly from APKs from release pages on Github and Codeberg (even the official German ID app) after vetting how many devs are working on the app, how many stars it has and how much LLMs were used in the development. Then if no APK is available the next app source is F-Droid, then if it’s not on there, Aurora store for pure Play Store apps, then if it’s a paid app and/or it needs Play Services, I switch to the second profile on which sandboxed Play Services are enabled and I’m logged in to the Play Store.

Did not test banking or payment as I rather do that on the PC and via card/cash.

Feels very good to be tracked minimally and I hope the goated GrapheneOS devs are able to provide the means to sideload apps for a foreseeable future and the second hand Pixel market is not overrun by scalpers.

Using Google play services free GrapheneOS on a Pixel 6 (so swipe even works with reduced screen estate) with the FUTO keyboard and this paragraph was completely written with its swipe feature. The only problematic words were GraphenOS and swipe.

Writing this by tapping again as I’m actually faster that way. But from what I can say, swiping works really good. I appreciate the authors effort but I won’t pull in some Google library again (especially related to monitoring keyboard input) via a hackish way.

I’m completely satisfied with FUTO as an all-in-one solution already. The voice input using local models works especially good. I’m not 100% sure but I could swear the devs changed the key sizes in one of the current updates. They’re perfectly sized now. The one thing I miss is a TAB key for autocompletition, when I’m logged in on a SSH terminal. But otherwise it’s feature complete for me.

Multiple people in his vicinity including me tried to convince US citizens on Mastodon to vote for Harris to no avail. Some of them didn’t even know about the Heritage Foundation and their plans and if they knew they said it wasn’t in line with Trumps agenda.

Those color settings in nvidia-settings are only available on X11 which is basically the only reason (apart from the long postponed switch to an AMD GPU) I haven’t switched to Wayland. Though desktop effects in KDE are more fluid under Wayland and frametimes in games maybe a bit better I just can’t live with the washed out colors when gaming.

Thanks. Seems you’re correct and Sunshine profits from CUDA when using this NVFBC but it doesn’t seem to explicitly depend on it to run. I tried it pretty soon after installing EOS and can’t imagine having installed CUDA so early. Last time I explicitly did it was for Ollama.

I just looked on that EOS machine on which Sunshine worked right from the start and no CUDA package is installed but nevertheless nvidia-smi shows CUDA Version 13. This seems to be because the nvidia driver brings the CUDA runtime with it which differs from the big CUDA toolkit. I’ll try CachyOS again when I eventually buy an AMD GPU.

I think you meant Cachy when you pointed out Limine is an option while doing automatic partitioning. And yes this worked very good. I meant that Endeavour doesn’t offer it at that point in install.

Don’t want to diss CachyOS. They’re sure doing tremendous work for the gaming community and all the default themes for the different WMs and DEs look enticing. I’m sure this was a case of PEBKAC.

Yes AFAIK it is in the extra repo, which I’d always prefer to the AUR. Thing is, I tried Apollo beforehand, as I wanted clipboard support, which was probably only available in the AUR. Maybe that borked something with the install. I could install Sunshine though but Moonlight from my main Endeavor install couldn’t make any connection even with opening all the wanted ports in the firewall.

Recently tried CachyOS on my HTPC. Couldn’t get Sunshine to run. It looked beautiful though and the docs seemed really in-depth. Endeavour (thanks to Arch, I know) is just so stable and fast. Just the right amount of pre-installed stuff like reflector, yay, the firewall-config app for firewalld with sane defaults, nice BTRFS subvolume layout, correct NVidia drivers. Would be nice to have Limine (for BTRFS snapshots) as an option besides SystemD boot and Grub in Calamares but I installed it in addition to SystemD boot. Gaming works tremendously good. Everything else too.

I really can’t recall the last time an update went wrong. On both of my machines (one Intel, one AMD, both NVidia).

I assume the reference material were some age old photos as she was on the run for decades.

I don’t know much about facial recognition but I only heard it works damn well and considering OS and phone manufacturers employing it and are confident enough to not have their users locked out or compromise security let’s me assume that it works damn well.

Don’t know about most places but regarding Germany, OP is correct. It’s verboten to film property of neighbours, public places or places shared with neighbours with your statically installed surveillance camera. You have to get consent of filming neighbours and you have to put up signs informing persons like delivery drivers that they’re getting filmed. That’s what my short search resulted in.
