Oh that’s sad. The nature of commerce and competition means that proprietary stuff will never go away because making closed stuff is the way MBAs are taught to create “competitive advantage”

41·3 years agoPeople point fingers at Meta for “allowing” this but there’s no amount of money that can reasonably moderate 3 b-b-billion users.
This is a prime use case for AI technology
Kotlin won’t save your skin if the code you wrote should be performant but you layered it into a heap of abstract classes, interfaces, factories, etc and, realistically, no one else would use or expand on that

1·3 years agoThat is, the skill of a Hollywood star is not really anything to do with the product, but simply being famous, recognizable, and likeable.
I bet studio execs and agents hate having to deal with their stars’ erratic behavior off screen and their personal projects. AI stars voiced by unseen voice actors are much more easier to deal with and they can pay voice actors less. This is IT driven enshittification of the entertainment industry.

Another way to think about this is that those projects that have a more structured approach to documentation have a better chance at lasting longer, attracting more contributors, and making more lasting impacts
