It makes perfect sense to me. First, not are as opposed to ads as you might be. Having grown up in the era of commercial TV, they are just a minor annoyance to me. Second, some people may rarely watch Netflix. Such a cheap plan lets people keep it for those few shows they still watch.
To me, the bigger mystery is why there isn’t a 1-screen 4K package. Forcing people to buy 4 screens when they only watch 1 at a time is what drives sharing. Not everyone has a ton of kids that all want to watch something different.
Not if you lose a key, of course. But getting locked out over a mechanical failure that happens often (a dead battery) is newsworthy. This seems to be yet another serious design flaw.
