Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•I wish the Steam Controller used AA batteriesEnglish
102·6 months agoI think it is way more inconvenient when you pick up a dead controller and fiddle around with long cables then taking the minuit to swap out AAs. Recharchable AAs are so much more convenient and as you said ensure the controller’s longevity. I am still rocking the original steam controller.

Technology@beehaw.org•Fairphone 6 Teardown: Proof Phones Don’t Have to Be DisposableEnglish
12·10 months agoWhen considering new customers or those who, for example, have irreparably damaged their Fairphone, it’s important to recognize that selling a three-year-old device as new may not be appealing to them. Additionally, many people today rely on their phones as their primary computer and therefore require the performance necessary to handle a variety of tasks.

World News@lemmy.world•China says there are no negotiations with the US over tariffsEnglish
163·1 year agoChina has the luxury of being a totalitarian state. Xi does not need to worry about upcoming elections. Unfortunately in Europe any moves that requires great sacrifice might be political suicide.

Technology@lemmy.world•British soldiers tune radio waves to fry drone swarmsEnglish
1·1 year agoI am assuming undetectable waves. That is the enemy won’t know where the waves are being fired from or even that they are being fired at all.

Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky has started honoring takedown requests from Turkish governmentEnglish
5·1 year agoYes but they need to obey Turkish law if they want to offer their services there. Like how US websites have to show a “cookies” disclaimer within the EU due to EU privacy laws.

World News@lemmy.world•Russian forces weaker than they claim, say Chinese POWsEnglish
4·1 year agoEh as much as I would like it to be true, I would take the word of captured enemy combatants with a grain of salt.

Technology@lemmy.world•Bluesky has started honoring takedown requests from Turkish governmentEnglish
111·1 year agoWell as a company bluesky, would need to abide by the laws of where it is offering it’s services.
They can’t just ignore the request of the country’s government. They could either challenge it in court or stop offering their services altogether.

World News@lemmy.world•Stunning Signal leak reveals depths of Trump administration’s loathing of EuropeEnglish
5·1 year agoI think they hate “the west” in general as the population can criticize and pressure those in power. Whereas dictatorships have unquestioned control.

World News@lemmy.world•Stunning Signal leak reveals depths of Trump administration’s loathing of EuropeEnglish
12·1 year agoIn this case they should have been using government systems for internal transparency and opsec.

World News@lemmy.world•The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War PlansEnglish
1·1 year agoIronically this scandal was caused by fools
Frankly I think Trump sees western nations not led by dictators as threats.

10·1 year agoThere are people who use tesla parts to make electric car conversions

World News@lemmy.world•Trump tells Zelensky 'make a deal or we're out' in angry White House meetingEnglish
2·1 year agoI can already guess the excuse: “Europe started the war by not negotiating a peace deal with Russia when it came to Ukraine.”

World News@lemmy.world•Trump’s America is Putin’s ally nowEnglish
2·1 year agoBoard of the UZA*

World News@lemmy.world•Japan's SDF destroyers are being converted into aircraft carriersEnglish
1·1 year agoWe are living in times where countries are doing or threatening land grabs even to their supposed allies. I think this is a preemptive message of don’t fuck with.

World News@lemmy.world•Man jailed for 30 years for Charlie Hebdo meat cleaver attackEnglish
71·1 year agoOfcourse! A convicted pedophile is a convicted pedophile until proven innocent.
With a life sentence you can at least get some of your life back if proven innocent. With the death penalty not so much.
dmalteseknight@programming.devto
World News@lemmy.world•Man jailed for 30 years for Charlie Hebdo meat cleaver attackEnglish
17·1 year agoIt is not the severity of the crimes but the risk of executing innocents. A person could be a convicted pedophile but new evidence might reveal that they were innocent.

Technology@lemmy.world•How the American war on porn could change the way you use the internetEnglish
2·2 years agoI might have worded my comment poorly. I did not mean to insinuate that it was “safer” but that there is more variety. That is, it is easier to find 18th century toaster porn today than back in the 2000s.

I mean they are trying to… by helping the aggressor win the war.
