EmuDeck uses EmulationStation, in which I’ve seen a lot of controller-related problems. Controllers working in the menu but not in the emulators. Controllers working in the emulators but not in the menus.
For a dedicated emulation machine, I’ll once again shill for Lakka, that boots LibreELEC directly into RetroArch without EmulationStation, and has bootable installers for multiple configurations of x86_64 machines and images for loads of single-board computers.
Lots of arcade games and other amusement machines made in the last twenty years run on desktop Linux.
Incredible Technologies games, Raw Thrills/Play Mechanix Big Buck Hunter Pro, Arachnid dartboards, and TouchTunes jukeboxes off the top of my head.

I can’t even get this Brother to scan to a flash drive in its own USB port. It acts like it’s successful; it scans and no errors show up… but the files just aren’t there. Tried multiple USB drives and made sure they were formatted to FAT32 in a sector size that Brother recommended in the manual.
Printing to it from Debian was even easier than expected, though. Plug it in, it shows up as a networked printer, and you print to it.
I have a similar PATA enclosure. I thought it was cursed until I got to reuse the A-A cable to upload FlashFloppy custom firmware to Gotek floppy emulators without wiring up a USB-serial adaptor.
It works for Ultimate Boot CD, which includes DBAN and a lot of other fun stuff.
I play with retro hardware and Ventoy has also worked for me with some weird old isos that even Rufus didn’t work with (XP/Server 2003 multidisc from eXPerience that uses a Linux bootloader?)
I was installing Nobara 40 and discovered that the live session is allowed to suspend the PC during the install process. The system ended up having problems with some basic functions…
This, I tried some newer distros with Wayland and ended up going back to Debian Stable and X11 for gaming. Got Sunshine (for Moonlight handheld client streaming) working for in about a minute.

My bad. Well, obviously Motorola has 14 configured and available for this device, so I don’t know what to tell you.
Luckily, my gov’t now forces providers to un-network-lock devices after a certain waiting period (60 days?), and the bootloader seems to be unlockable! I’m not feeling like a slave, just paying more for the phone than what I signed up for.
Edit: I’ll always trust Motorola over, say, Samsung, where the Galaxy S-whatever (US version) and the same name device (International version) even have a completely different processor!

Ask your service provider why they are holding back updates.
Edit: 14 fixed one of my annoying issues with this phone; the outer screen did not play nice with certain keyboards (I like Unexpected Keyboard). Now you can choose different keyboards for each screen.
I maintain older hardware at work. We have a platform based on a Biostar motherboard with no USB3 ports, and it will not boot from any USB3 drive I’ve tried. Any USB2 drives work fine. Picky, picky! 🤷

Thanks for replying, everyone! This project is temporarily on hold; downloading and sha256sum-ming some different isos led me to discover that my main system has a RAM issue. 🤦
I just learned to not trust motherboards’ automatic RAM voltage setting; only one of four sticks seems to be sensitive to the apparent undervoltage that it was running on.
Edit: I hope that whoever designed the style of RAM slot that has a latch on only one side stubs their toe every day for the rest of their life.
If you uninstall (or disable) Google Photos, that button should ask what app you want to open.
Try some non-Razer input devices. I’ve seen multiple systems act strangely because of them, although the usual problem is that the system won’t POST with the offending device plugged in… Unplug, boot system, plug in, and it works fine (until it’s time to reboot or power-cycle).
Maybe they’ve finally fixed those problems. In Lakka, I set my controller up once (for each unique controller) in RetroArch frontend, and then it works in any emulator core. I don’t think it’s normal to have to set up the controller in each core (but you can, if you want or need to!)
