On my RTX 3080 laptop I get a significantly lower frame rate on my laptop screen (240hz) and 4k external monitor (144hz) when using Wayland. Wayland has come a long way but I’m still going to be using X11 for at least the near future.

1·1 year agoHe has his problems but I’m particularly concerned about the “GPL2/3 or later” clauses in a lot of GPL-released software and how the absence of his leadership might compromise it. I’m sure a lot of corporations would like to see a good chunk of GPL’d software end up under an MIT-style license.
I just flipped through the introduction of a GIMP book that the authors hoped 3.0 would be out so they could cover it but ultimately based the book on 2.6 due to delays. It’s copyright 2012, apparently something (didn’t) happen.
