All I did: Add installer as Steam Game. Press play to install. Add launcher as Steam Game. Press play to open the b.net client and install w/e game you intend to. In both cases also force use of proton experimental or else it won’t start.

Did you get the b.net installer and launcher mixed up? I did the same uphrade just 3 days ago, 1tb upgrade from 64gb. Diablo works fine for me from the new ssd. On my old 64gb I got them mixed up once and it was a headache to sort out.
I bought the same. It’s perfect.
You are fine for now. You will notice when storage starts to run out. Most important thing right now is understanding how everything works on Linux and the Deck specifically. How it handles shaders, why storage runs out even if you dont have games on the internal storage, etc.
Start looking into som videos about the deck. Download cryo utilities and follow that setup, you learn a lot and speed your Deck up while at it. Only suggestion coming from a fellow 64gb user is to not use more than maybe 8gb of storage for the extra “ram” you can create. You will run out of space. And don’t install any games directly on the Deck whatsoever. Only use that external storage.
When, or if, you start to run out. A 1tb sd instead of your 128gb could be the easiest option and requires 0 tinkering. I swapped the internal storage myself just about 3 days ago and it was super easy. But just getting a 1tb sd is probably best for most people anyway.
Welcome to the gang. Enjoy. Your purchase was a great one.
Doesn’t really seem mine you can if you want the sound to not be out of sync :(
And! Enable wlan and get an app on your phone to power on the decent computer with. Get game streaming working. And now you play the demanding titles on the Deck through your computer in handheld with good graphics and enormous battery life. Also get something like parsec to be able to log on and power off the computer. Never need to sit Infront of it ever again? That’s my life :)
Had this issue yesterday on Sponge Bob and stumbled upon this setting. Fixed it all. Very nice.
Maybe you just like BBC? :) Nothing to be ashamed of. Plenty of people do!
Can you clarify what you mean by BBC hanging? Thanks in advance.
Godly post. Sticky?
I don’t think it has issues with many games. Plus it doesn’t have a monthly fee to play online. I feel this is sooo overlooked. If you use the Deck for three-four years you have essentially gotten it for the same price as a Ps or Xbox sub.
I see! Not possible to add the installer as a Steam Game and afterwards add the launcher? Just like the guides for Battle.net client? That’s a bummer then!
Why do you want Windows? Specific game? Most can be installed without Windows.
I’ve only seen and read tests. Speeds are barely noticable, if at all, from what I’ve been able to understand.
256 internal with a 512 micro sd should be enough foe most of us.
I have the official dock. Overall satisfied but doesn’t work great with the tv downstairs (Philips One). I have to unplug the power every time I want to dock my Deck or I get no picture on the tv.
Because on the most expensive Steam Deck the screen has anti glare. Anti glare screens have somewhat reduced sharpness. That in itself isn’t a problem until you start thinking about a screen protector. Not getting one? Then no issue.
But if you want to protect the screen you start getting in this wierd place with no good choices. A regular screen protector will mess up the anti glare and you get the reduced sharpness on top. And if you get an anti glare screen protector you now have X2 reduced sharpness.
Better going with the mid range Deck, get better inbuilt storage compared to the base version which somewhat matters when you start tweaking the Deck. And now you can buy any screen protector. No headache. On the Deck you can also dedicate disk space into virtual ram which is great. Not so great on my 64gb Deck tho. I would’ve wanted a 256gb one for that reason alone and now I’m on the fence about buying a 1tb ssd and start opening it up. I wouldn’t have bothered if I had a 256gb model.
Go for it. It’s incredible. Get the middle one. Anti glare doesn’t make sense built in. Get a screen protector for that.
They are way more powerful but makes less use of the power. Also way more expensive most of the time. Valve actually sells the Deck at a loss and hope to get it back on games. It’s currently the best value for money.
Great mention! Will save and watch later!
