I like windows 11 better than 10. The UI is better (besides the basic start menu all apps thing) but, I’m just about done with microsoft I think… For the same reason I left reddit, I don’t want to be a commodity. With all the telemetry that is undoubtedly being sent from my windows OS (even when disabling everything I can) it makes me uncomfortable (even with my pihole on my network)… Getting more and more comfortable with linux as a daily driver. For years, linux was always just those work computers I’ve dealt with but the more I want to get away from being a product. The more I realize linux is what I need.
Thank you.
Decentraleyes … Nice! Never seen that one! I always suspected hosted libraries and the such come at a costs (like jQuery etc…).
This is great! Feature request… Can you add this functionality to allow people to sub tho these communities easy. It’s what I’m doing in a little javascript that has helped me tremendously!
That will take someone straight to being able to sub from their instance.
Sad. Ummm, I just figured out how to link gifs…

I saw this application once in the past doing tech support for customers. It used a proxy or forced dns servers to allow you on to the internet it seemed “safe”. The user was trying to access websites we used for work. That crazy software takes screenshots of your desktop every few minutes. We worked in the healthcare industry… I forwarded it to our security dept and had to file a HIPAA report…
Terrible software. The persons family didn’t trust their own adult kid… I figured it was some form of religious thing.
My bud was asking me about what I’m going to do now. I said I’ll search for stuff for work and use reddit if I don’t find it on stack overflow… Lol. (Software dev). That’s probably the extent that reddit will ever see me again.
Yeah. I’ve been conscious of it too. Moderately anyway. Ublock, pihole, vpn, browser containers, etc… It feels so bizarre that your entire online presence can be used to profile your existence for corporations to try and bleed every ounce of you for profit. I hate it. There are some good privacy communities on here already. Running my own instance and seeing ublock and pihole block literally nothing from Lemmy is incredible. This is pretty much what I wanted. Pure community. Sure there is some small technical stuff to iron out but it’s like 90% there… Already.
Very well crafted protest post. Special note they intend to reopen on the 14th but not allow any further content or posts.
Well done askhistorians. Do they know about Lemmy?
I deleted mine the day Elon bought it… Lol. I honestly never cared for Twitter too much but I admit I get a lot of news from it (specifically because I am following the ukrainian situation pretty closely).
Br never lets me down.
