I bailed because the YTM algorithm is terrible compared to when it was Google music. It had got progressively worse and I really realised how bad it was when I subbed to Deezer for a trial. If they hadn’t trashed Google music by integrating it into YouTube I’d still be paying for premium if it came with both. Can’t imagine I’ll ever pay for it again now.

Did I blink and miss something… Mint actually looks pretty modern compared to how I remember the release notes, kernel 6.8… I’ve never bothered with it as it just seemed like a distro to run on old hardware if you don’t mind your core being 2 years out of date, where Debian v.xx with kde just made more sense

I often took the same approach back when buying a game was a financial consideration. But even though now 4/5 times I already know hat I’m buying and just pay, there are still the 1/5 times I’ll pirate first as I’m really on the fence. Due to this I have a few games I ended up completing on pirate, but bought the game (and DLC if relevant) with 0 hours in my library because good work deserves recognition.

Otherwise we risk losing those good developers to other careers or into the AAA meat grinder.

For clarity I’m talking Indy titties here, I doubt I average much above 0.5/year AAA purchases anymore

Edit: actually I’ll go one step further. If I pirate your game and hate it, then its delete and forget. If I buy your game and hate it that’s a potential negative review, maybe even though me and that title we just a bad fit. This is why demos need to become ubiquitous again

It has been very good & stable over the last few years. I switched because kbuntus ancient kernel caused me issues so I needed something more current, and its worked ever since so I never looked elsewhere. Running Linux isn’t a hobby for me, these are my work systems, so I don’t hop without a push.

Edit: I’ve just rolled out fedora 40 and plasma 6 is running great

Been running KDE on fedora for the last 6 years after giving up on everything Ubuntu based back then. Haven’t thought to look elsewhere since as its been just fine

But its easy to find, just click the 3 bars next to the connected device and select SMS messages. KDE connect requires the app installed on the device to pair

KDE connect made communicating with the couple people I know who still use SMS bearable

The host is headless, no video output. The 2 VMs have a GPU passed directly through vfio, so there is no additional delay. Both GPUs connect to the same 2 monitors and USB by a KVM, so its one button press to flip between systems. Though I often run the cad software over RDP, as a little extra latency when using that doesn’t bother me.

Err OK. I passthrough a card to each, switch with KVM. Its like having 2 native machines. According to you I have loads of issues, I guess I just haven’t found them yet? What should I be giving in to?

This is some weird tribal emotional stuff.

I run both on the same machine in VMs, had this fedora install since 2019 and kept up with the version upgrades every year. Its just worked without issue during that whole period. I use office in the web app. Windows is there to run cad/cam software. It feels more gross with all the candy crush etc that you have to remove, but it works fine to run the software I need it for.

What’s with all the hyperbole above? Did someone hurt you?

Been running Linux as primary is for 10-15 years now, used to distro hop a lot, often just because. Life is too busy for that now but I last installed fedora (KDE, I always run KDE out of preference) about 5 years ago and I’m really impressed. The system is very current but its always remained stable for me and upgrading from version to version is smoother than normal security patches on win 10 which I still run for CAD.

Are you all up to date? Tbh I do agree with the other post, ASUS have terrible QA and don’t care.

The only legit media service I pay for now is YouTube. Before I get Amy lectures I am well aware of the issues with it, but also people still keep paying for Netflix as it cancels shows just as they start to grow, so… I’m a legacy google music sub, so moving over for me was a tiny cost increase to no longer mess with adblock on the site, though recently I do feel the YTM ‘radio’ algo is not as good as legacy google music. Self employed manufacturing stuff in my workshop all day either video or music is always on so its a bargain to me. My point being, that’s the only streaming sub I find worth paying for, out of everything. Maybe I’m an edge case but I just don’t see 4/5 of these services still existing in 5 years, its too much. Unless they can all survive on people subbing for 2-3 months a year

I run their OS /e/ on my fairphone 4. As someone who just uses a phone for basic stuff its the tits, no bs, no google apps required at all. The built-in tracker blocking etc is great and I like the basic interface.

Biggest bonus is that my phone lasts maybe 50% longer on a single charge. Was super easy to install too.

No paying with NFC though, but I don’t mind, I always had my wallet anyway.

The most obvious explanation to me is that following so much success running pump and dump scams on his followers in some stocks but mostly unregulated crypto, he decided he was untouchable. Then tried to run another such scheme on twitter stock, but this time threw in a legally binding contract into the manipulation because he’s too dumb to realise how dumb he is.
