Really glad then that the guy we got instead increased their funding, bombed Iran and took out a world leader just for oil. Clearly a much better situation than the latter would have been.

You don’t even have to go up to the Type R. Every car review of the Civic Hybrid is basically “we hate this car because it’s so perfect.” It’s the default “I’m looking for a good car.”
The Pilot is also one of the best in its class amongst family 3 rows.

Yeah, the first time it happened on Google Maps I thought it was just an issue with like that small section of bridge/overpass, but then it did it again and I was just stuck in the same traffic but now even further behind. It was incredibly odd. By like the 4th time I was like “ok, if I don’t stop using you then it’s on me for being so frustrated.”

Here in Cali I’ve noticed it’s actually better. Google Maps has been ass for the last 4 years for me. Wrong data, it takes me randomly off the freeway only to loop my back and put me right back where I got off. It has completely wrong traffic data, and it has road closures it thinks are still open. When I travel around the bay for work I mostly use Apple Maps.

I like how you’re calling bullshit on a study because you feel like you know better.
Read the report, and go check the study. They note that the biggest gains in human visibility for displays comes from contrast (largest reason), brightness, and color accuracy. All of which has drastically increased over the last 15 years. Look at a really good high end 1080p monitor and a low end 4k monitor and you will actively choose the 1080p monitor. It’s more pleasing to the eye, and you don’t notice the difference in pixel size at that scale.
Sure distance plays some level of scale, but they also noted that by performing the test at the same distance with the same size. They’re controlling for a variable you aren’t even controlling for in your own comment.

That’s why it’s bolted to a concrete slab from the inside.

It’s a smaller unit for my camera setup and it’s in a cooler area. When I open the safe up it’s basically the same temp. So I’m not worried about thermal performance. At least on that front. The camera system is just for home monitoring. The main components (what you mentioned being concerned about) stay hidden too behind the closet wall in my office and the wall is an interior wall so thermally they stay pretty smooth.

Since the other comments seem to be less than useful ideas on things you didn’t ask about…
I keep my NAS/Video server for my home cameras in my gun safe. Costco has a gun safe (really can be used for anything like documents too since it’s fire rated) that had power cable running to the inside. I used the same path to run a data cable and keep it all locked up in there with a monitor mounted on top and a UPS in the middle. My safe is close to my room with the idea being if someone wanted to break in I’d keep the footage. Not that anyone would, but like you seem to be asking I’m more concerned about the what if.
The rest of the switches/routers/WAP Controller is located in my home office closet inside of one of those on-Q boxes in the wall.

This is highly dependent on the state and even the areas within a state. Here in California for instance we have the Williams Act which lays out a ton of guidance. Some of which impact students paying for things at schools. Some districts in the state view Williams Act and 1:1 Chromebook deployments as being something that the student/parents aren’t responsible for paying for even when they purposefully damage it. This can change though from region to region in the state based on how a districts legal team and its board chooses to read the law since no one so far (at least as far as I was last aware and I work in edtech) has pushed to see where it stops or starts. I’ve worked for districts that were on separate ends of that spectrum and even in the district that made parents pay for damages we still would give them a replacement and not charge them since it was added to a “tab” and only if they wanted transcripts did they have to pay.

Now $1250 to fix since parts tariffs are coming in May. As an owner of an AMG this is annoying and while I have the money to ignore these impacts it’s still frustratingly stupid that it’s even happening at this level. Every part to repair my car usually has to be shipped from Germany which means you and I will be paying more.
Also, new German cars are mostly touch screens and capacitive buttons. So they need frequent electrical components when they fail.
Also, 99% of German car buyers were the same people paying double for a G wagon during COVID and are now so upside down in their loan that the cars are falling like a rock for pricing. Those people have jobs that generally depend on a healthy economy…

You’ve mentioned the same thing as the original comment.
What does the US have to do with this story? Why are we bringing up something from 36 years ago when I can go online and find like 5 different stories on planes Russia has shot out of the sky in the last like 10 years? You’re giving their shitty shoot first and don’t say shit later policy a pass by bringing up a geo-political rival that adds nothing to the conversation.

Really digging with the “US is barely better” by going back to 1988…
This fighter jet incident last month was definitely an unexpected incident, but a far cry from shooting a civilian aircraft out of either our own airspace, or a surrounding sovereign country’s airspace.
This whataboutism is hilarious if not so misguided simply for trying to say “America bad too.”
Honestly, why even bring up the US? It’s not like as if these stories have to do with us…

Outside of Nissans CVT yall are absolutely sleeping on their interiors. Given the price they compete in they’re doing some really amazing work.
Mitsubishi has also had the rather nice Outlander PHEV. The Mirage needs to go as it’s just too crappy and soils the brand, but their work has been fine. I owned an Evo and I’d love another, but that didn’t make them money.
Toyota has also been steadfast against BEVs (which I can sort of understand, but their Bz4X is a shit attempt) and their new turbo motors have had some reliability concerns.
Subaru builds the ugliest cars on the road with all that plastic now and their motors continue to suffer head gasket issues.
Honestly a Honda-Nissan-Mitsubishi corp would be capable of keeping up the fight. Especially given Nissan was an early player in the BEV game.

Then we could use our nukes instead of diplomacy! Nothing like wiping countries off the map because we disagree with them.

That would be minimum 15% of their budget wiped out. If we force other US charities (really just 1) to stop, or “convince” them not to we could be talking about a 30% decline in revenue.

What’s the stereotype you think I’m playing into? 😂
I literally work from home in the tech sector. I’m a young, fit 30 year old with this exact same set of issues. There’s no problem with WFH, what I’m pointing to is that a sedentary lifestyle which is boosted by people who only walk 5 steps from bed to office (like me) has helped to exacerbate an issue. My parent had work from home days back in the 90s and early 2000s, so we know they existed and started growing, much like this issue with cancer. It’s not because of only WFH, but it’s part of that grouping of a sedentary lifestyle. I think you’re taking my position on that as some sort of attack on WFH, which it isn’t.

“The overall evidence points to lifestyle change," says Shuji Ogino, professor of pathology and epidemiology at Harvard University
A quote from the article. People were starting WFH well into the 80s. It’s part of a sedentary lifestyle and growing obesity problem. Both of which researchers are pointing to as well as microplastics in our system.

Honestly the working from home with less walking and more sitting seems like the biggest reason for this since there’s some pretty major dietary differences between all these countries, but they probably have a higher rate of WFH compared to other countries.

I drive a Ram 2500… so I have like the worst LED lights for other people. What I don’t get is why they don’t automatically dim as I slow down. It’s now like your headlights are needed to see as far down the road when I’m doing 0mph. Just keep them at the minimum and increase brightness as I drive, and if it detects another car in front of me just reduce light output while drive to -10% from normal.
If I could just experience the high of having Windows Phone sounds and experience… I would be so happy. For all the shit it got, Windows Phone is still the most beautiful mobile OS, and the way it utilized sound is still next level.
