  • I work in a self-organized tech coop that we made by ourselves, and I do agree with your. This is a lot of concern to deal with unstable future, and it’s prevent ourselves to be active with others; some people left for stability, and reduce stress.

We are unionize too; and we think about modifying our rules to give the final word to union.

  • tl;dr : No, FOSS project are used by military and fascists

long: It’s link to a common misunderstanding of “mean of production”. FOSS developers do not own the mean of production. Mean of production is not just the tool to produce goods and services, but all the industry needed to make them available : promotion, distribution, … Socialization (for anarchists) or collectivization (for comies) of industries mean that workers own and manage (or self-organized) every establishment needed for this and organize together to get their power back. In this case, we could abolish some industries, change them, or choose where to send the production or not. This is the same for cooperatives and self-managed places; it’s may be some interesting experience or complementary with class struggle, but is not a revolutionary move in itself

  • You had an interesting debate, but if I may, I think that looking for someone to blame is misleading.

Firm moving offshore, allowing China to have economical power is a structural effect. A firm earn money in doing so, a country earn power in doing so. Blaming one firm or one countries will, at most, make another one do the same thing afterward. The incentives are still there, so the outcome shall be the same. We have to build other incentive to make thing change

You underlined how governments could reduce this incentive, but their is 2 issue :

    • without pression from direct action like strikes, blockade, sabotage or protests, vote would not work : People in charge relinquish to do so. They carrer depend of the economical growth, and their social environment (the bourgeoisie) taught them not to. Attacking the economy or what they think is the “social order”, could work
    • industrial and international mobilization of the workers is needed Workers from “the west” and the production center, like China, have common interests : better wages and working conditions in China will make corporation stay and let workers in “the west” have more jobs and space to mobilize for their own working conditions. Furthermore, the solidarity built internationally will help those mobilizations. You may thing it’s too jate if the firm have moved. It is not. Production have to be brought, distribute and sold. This is the working place that could have an impact. And this is an “industrial mobilization”

Always bring water. When tear gaz appears, stop breathing, wet a a piece of cloth and start to breath slowly through it. Even when you are use to it, it’s important to don’t take deep breath.

The advantage over a full mask is that you may not annoy by cops in case of frisking.

You may use waterpool glasses too if you follow the previous instruction

Good luck, and fuck the police

GPL impose that derivative work is GPL, not MIT. Indeed, a commercial and a military use could embed work under GPL licence, but I suppose to point ou which part is under GPL. Which is more complicated than MIT, that you could use and label under any licence you want.

I agree that it suppose that those organisations give a shit about law (clearly, they don’t), however a GPL infraction could be used against those organisation, next to other infractions for a trial and type of of actions.
