The biggest problem is that federation splits the communities between instances. So a single interest may have 5-10 different communities, all with fewer users than on an equivalent subreddit.
I’ve been saying this since the beginning, Lemmy needs a way to follow topics that allow you to subscribe to all related communities at once. And posting to a topic on one community allows it to show up across different communities of the same topic.
I see that rogue Google Play Music icon there. Makes me sad they killed it.
Is like twice a week I see that sentiment on here. What’s OP complaining about? Their mirror?
Gonna sideload cocaine while I mainline heroin.
Was called Bump. And then Apple introduces it this year as if it’s some new thing.
I have no idea why sharing files between devices has to be so complicated. Bring the devices close together, get NFC connected, use P2P wifi to send the files. This is not that difficult.
How has that not been a feature from the beginning?
Google is so big that the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing and they can’t even have a cohesive platform of features.
Oh that’s a really good point. Don’t trust the cops, keep everything encrypted.
Way safer in those situations.

Is this for your home? If it is, you don’t really have to worry about someone stealing your desktop. If someone breaks into your home, they’re looking for quick cash and jewelry and TVs. They’re not going to bother stealing your server to dig through files for something usable.
Seriously, Adobe is up there for having some of the most anti-consumer product policies ever.
They’re a shit company that deserves to die.
It’s a podcast. Most people listen to it while doing other things and don’t watch it in a single sitting.
If you don’t want to watch it, then don’t, but it really is a great podcast.
Oh gross. Yeah, that’s not okay.
Thanks for the clarification
I don’t know, if you’re getting yourself in that kind of situation, you should know you’re going to be beforehand, so just get a satphone.
But I guess it’s better to have it and not need it.
Thanks. They knew they could use that sentence as the headline, but determined they wanted to go with the clickbait.
Why is someone using Outlook to sync a different email address?
Why not keep the apps separate? Or use the Mail app built into Windows?
Seriously, someone explain the use case here because I don’t understand. If you’re using an outlook account, MS already has all that stuff. And if you don’t have an Outlook account, why are you using Outlook?
I personally like Argon a lot.
Radon kinda looks like a fancy Comic Sans
Never realized I’d share so much in common with it.
I pay for YouTube and I think people need to stop complaining so much about ads if they’re not willing to support the infrastructure or the creators they likely watch hours and hours of content from.
I also think Google is charging too much and should decouple music from videos, but that’s another subject.
As I’ve heard it, it’s much less of a problem when you’re looking at it straight on and out of bright sunlight. I think it was Honor that released a foldable last year that nearly eliminated it. So they’re close to minimizing it as much as they can
