That would be a very good starting point.

Yea, they could start by not being a shitty hostile dictatorship and then they could participate and contribute in the global tech stage and not have to worry about it

But imagine Putin kicks the bucket today! What a glorious present for the future glory of the civil war they will have! /s

Given the shit they are into, I don’t see it as a good place to spends money. But it’s their money 🤷‍♂️

Their war was a massive drain on brains and talent. Now they want to start building one of the most expensive industries in the world right now? And they are putting in a measley 2.5B USD? A typical fab starts at 1B, and that’s ignoring the start up costs for getting people and a place to research a technology that they gave up in the 70s because they were hopelessly incapable due to the Russian culture of tyrannical authoritarianism and lack of quality.

If they start now, they can make chips like it’s 1990 in a decade. It’s a waste of time and money, neither of which they have much to squander.

Not your money, I guess. Neither mine. If they want to throw money to a bottomless pit… 🤷‍♂️

I think they dropped a couple zeros on their budget estimates.
