Thousands of people are expected to descend upon the streets of London in protest at Donald Trump’s unprecedented second state visit.
The US president arrives in Britain on Tuesday night for a two-day stay, during which time he and his wife Melania will meet King Charles and Sir Keir Starmer, the Prime Minister.
His Majesty will host Mr Trump and the First Lady on Wednesday at Windsor Castle in Berkshire, before the trip continues on Thursday at the PM’s Chequers country residence in Buckinghamshire.
Well, I mean, you could always head it off be cancelling the state visit. That way people don’t have to bother with a protest, the government won’t have to bother dealing with a protest and nobody - and I feel this is important - has to deal with fucking Trump.
IIRC, early in the presidency, after the first meeting with Zelensky, everyone realised that you had to give Trump a gift if you wanted to avert his gaze and avoid being publicly humiliated like that South African PM who showed up empty handed.
As a result, when Starmer was summoned to the white house he presented Trump with an invite to a royal audience. Trump loved this gift. Very Trumpian. Now it’s time to make good I guess.
Just cancel the thing and then immediately distract the prick. It shouldn’t be hard. Throw a golf ball and shut ‘fetch!’ or something. Give him a little time, and he’ll have totally forgotten about it. Couple of hours, tops.
