Ubisoft is a weird one. I like their open world games (not that hard, so long as I like the premise for a specific one, it’s more of the same) and they seem to want their games running everywhere! Except sometimes. Here’s the latest example, but conversely a few months ago Motorfest stopped being announced anti cheat pita and just worked. Always have to check protondb before getting one… oh! And then there’s Starlink, which works on Linux but, lol, hates virtualization tech so on Windows it’s either that not running, or Windows complaining about lowered security. Lovely.

Ubisoft should shut down their entire company, nothing of value would be lost.

The market they are missing out on is growing. If 4 friends decide to play a game, and 1 has Linux, those 4 will not play a Ubisoft game.
So even if Linux is only about 3%, it could hypothetically mean 12% lower playtime on their games, and that will reflect in lower future sales. Where people will prefer to buy games they play more.

How many of your friends you game with are non-linux users? That sometimes happens, but rarely. Usually they’ll still play these titles when I’m not around. In fact the most common thing I’ve seen is they’ve already bought/downloaded the game and they’ll ask if I’m willing to join, to which I’ll say it doesn’t run. Everyone I’ve met tries to accomodate for that particular play session, but they don’t extend that as far as their purchasing habits.

That’s just not how people work at all lmao. If 1 doesn’t have it then they just don’t all play it for that one session. Those other 3 may play it on their own. What are these ass pull stats? The hypothetical case has almost no chance of being realized.

Especially with how competitive games work, they’re largely played solo.

As I wrote they play it less. I never claimed they don’t play it. and I clearly indicated that the numbers aren’t stats, I made an example and a hypothetical based on it.
