I visited the Atacama observatory about 15 years ago as it’s meant to be the best place on earth to see the stars. It’s also one of the driest places on earth.
After travelling half way around the world I had solid cloud cover and the threat of rain for 4 days and saw nothing.

I have wanted to make such a dark sky trip, and almost did in Feb. 2020 only to have something come up… you might be able to guess what.
