Just a below average idiot that mostly comments for one of 3 reasons:

Catharsis, expressing exasperation over the general state of things.

Looking to make someone laugh.

Self deprecation.

  • I’d second Mint suggested below. I mentioned this on another thread today, but if you’re really concerned about being able to play whatever games you want then just dual boot (use a secondary drive for Linux, not a partition) and upgrade to Windows 11 then install O&O shut up as it will allow you to disable all the telemetry and AI bullshit then just search your installed apps/programs for one drive and delete the app.

I use Mint for everything except gaming. It still runs a lot of what I tried with Lutris and a little tweaking, even got a game working where I just dragged the fully installed folder from Windows over to the Linux drive, but I have some things that work better on windows so I just neutered windows and only run that when I want to play something.

As someone similarly unfamiliar with Linux I’ll say I just made the move as well a few weeks ago and haven’t had any issues so far! Ive even started playing with wine and lutris to get games working, with a little tweaking I was even able to drag the files of an already installed game from Windows over to Linux and then get lutris to run it. I was pretty surprised to see it worked lol

This is exactly why I started using mint this weekend. I figured it’s time I get comfortable with Linux because even though microsuck says recall can be disabled, I 10000% guarantee once the windows 10 deadline passes and they get as many people over to windows 11 as possible we’ll suddenly see the “oops, it’s required now. Can’t disable it or you break windows!” message.

  • Due to the invasiveness of the procedure, I don’t imagine the current administration would find much use for it.

Or: “All Liberals must undergo an American Loyalty Test. Your thoughts will be observed and if any anti-american sentiment is discovered you will be deported!”

If it’s used against an “enemy” group the invasiveness (potential pain) would be viewed as a benefit to them.

Not that I think this could be reasonably carried out in a country of 400 million people, but I wouldn’t for one second doubt their willingness to try eventually.
