The Cuba card is that the only reason Cuba isn’t a socialist paradise is because of sanctions. It has nothing to do with authoritarians of all stripes being bad for their nations.
Saudi Arabia is extremely authoritarian, and they seem to be doing well with no sanctions. Even though they murder and dismember American journalists. :-)
